Help - Crazy Memory Consumption

Recommended Posts

Posted

Ask for urgent help, because the new version of embyserver (4.3.0.30) has an absurd memory consumption of 100% of the 6GB I have on VPS.

No customer can play the videos.

Thank you

What is that reporting the usage? I have never seen it use a comma (,) before.....

For Comparison.......

Weird Numbering @@Luke......Why is Beta 6 Versions behind Stable?

A new beta hasn't been published yet.

Hi,

As directed by @@Luke, the following log files are attached to my emby server, stable version 4.3.0.30.

The image shows that 4 files (1) are created in the log folder and I don't remember seeing this "hardware-detection" (2) file before.

Please kindly review why it is impossible for any customer to use.

Today I did a test, there was no one logged in, I logged in with the administrator account and in 1 minutes the memory consumption rose from 180mb to 5GB, consuming 98% of memory, which prevents playback of any video. Same picture as post # 1.

Thanks for any help.

Hi @@Luke and awesome, Happy New Year !

Well, I opened this topic and I sent the log files on December 7th and no response so far.

I still have the same problem but today, at that moment, I think I found the cause of memory and processor consumption.

I did the following tests and repeated them the same 5 times and in all, the behavior was the same.
1 - When you click the play button on the video poster, playback occurs normally and consumption is also normal, so the problem is not in playback, because I tested with 5 different videos.
2 - Here is the problem. By clicking on the 3 point menu or even anywhere in the video poster, to open the details page, consumption immediately rises to 5Gb as shown in the image in the first post.

So, confirming ...

Just one click on any part of the video poster and consumption goes crazy and of course, Emby crashes immediately.
But if you click the big player button, everything works fine.

So, I hope that this topic now gets attention so that the issue can be resolved.

Using EmbyServer in stable version 4.3.1.0, Intel Xeon Windows Server with 8 Gb RAM.

Thanks for listening.

Thanks for answering.

I have been using Emby Server with Windows Server 2012 for over 2 years now and have never had a problem before.

Two other friends also use VPS with the same version of Windows and for them everything is perfect.

When you open Metadata Manager and click on any video to change the title, for example, the problem also occurs.

I remembered yesterday that I made changes to over 100 videos by clicking on the 3 point icon and everything was normal.

Emby's cache size and sheer number of files is a issue in a lot of places. Glad you worked it out!

Ubuntu Server is awesome...and free.

See how interesting.

The tests I did, countless, were all on the VPS PC and the local Windows 10 Pro PC, so I decided to test on the Android smartphone and by tapping a video poster, the memory consumption goes crazy and Emby crashes as well.

More curiosity ...
I decided to create a new user with administrator powers.
I accessed EmbyServer with this new admin user and by clicking on the 3 point icon, everything seems to work fine. By clicking anywhere on the video poster, everything seems to work fine.
I logged back in as my usual admin user, and the issue was maintained.
Does anyone have any explanation for this?

-----

When returning with the login to the newly created administrator, the problem remains, so that's not it either.

I very much doubt it has anything to do with 2012r2 - mine is up to date with windows updates - just checked

Just tested the beta server (on 2012r2) with Android client (3.0.87) and cant see the affects you are seeing - no high memory usage

Also tried the web client and also not seeing memory change significantly

Is it always the same video posters that are causing this - is it every video you try?

Have you tried replacing a poster to see if some might be corrupt
