thisguyiknow 0 Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 My remote emby server now keeps crashing with this sort of error in event viewer -- my job depends on this server being functional as I manage the Los Angeles room from Chicago -- please please please help me understand why this happens and why emby server will not start -- I have re-installed, it works for about 24 hours then dies with this error

thisguyiknow 0 Posted November 27, 2019 Author Posted November 27, 2019 here is the newest log -- server still running -- perhaps my short term solution is to re-install each time it fails over VPN from Chicago -- restart machine and cross my fingers that the stuff works when the clients need to use the room

thisguyiknow 0 Posted November 27, 2019 Author Posted November 27, 2019 (edited) My wording was confusing --what I am saying is that if I have to re-install it every time it fails I will---it just so happens that I am VPN'ing into said machine to do the install ---then rebooting and crossing my fingers that it works * and I am rebooting because there is a startup sequence yada yada...and the people who are at the theater are baby boomer 'non-computer' types who only use my ipad remote system to interface to the the room and if I don't reboot after my remote VPN login they will be greeted with a windows login screen and windows media center will not be open [since WMC closes during an RDP] (we do have Emby theater, which I am transitioning them to eventually though I still find the TV integration of WMC better)--as much as these seem like simple hurdles -- they are not for the users of the theater --and having to be 1700 miles away (which is new, I moved for family reasons) makes it all the more critical that I keep that 'ish' stable https://www.soundandvision.com/content/world%E2%80%99s-most-kick-ass-home-theater Edited November 27, 2019 by thisguyiknow

thisguyiknow 0 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Posted November 30, 2019 I am not sure why Webhooks is installed -- is it a data acquisition plugin? so far there hasn't been another error - the one thing I changed is not to have emby automatically update itself -- which shame on me for having enabled because in a commercial environment you don't change things that work - Thanks for the help so far, will post something if it fails again-

Hi, did you read the description on the webhooks configuration page? Do you love home automation? With Emby Premiere you can setup webhooks. Emby can dim the lights when you start a movie, or send a tweet after you finish watching an episode of your favorite TV show. Learn more. Emby Server will make requests to these webhooks on various system and playback events.
thisguyiknow 0 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Posted November 30, 2019 I did read that description -- though it leaves a bit to be desired in terms of an explanation--- as I said, so far, turning off auto update has at least in the last few days helped (though it might be unrelated)--- there is also the possibility that there were .net framework issues ------there are a lot of variables on that theater PC ------Emby has ran more or less in a stable state (since it was just Media Browser) for years and years and in the last two weeks 'lost its mind' twice----perhaps an aberration ---- I will be back in LA in a couple weeks or so I will be able to take a longer look at things.
