computerprep 148 Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 Would be great if I (as admin) can set an automatic expiration to downloaded files for certain users. Could become a global setting, but user management would need the ability to override that for specific users. 1
darkassassin07 652 Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 What do you mean by this? Its not very clear. -User has until x date to download an item from the server? -files downloaded by user will auto-delete after x date? Curious why you'd want either one.
computerprep 148 Posted November 26, 2019 Author Posted November 26, 2019 Once downloaded, file expires after X days. Don't know what's unclear about that. Netflix implements a similar feature. Can help admins feel confident there aren't dozens or more copies of our files out there.
ebr 16184 Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 Once downloaded, file expires after X days. Hi. What does "expires" mean in this context?
neik 873 Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 As he mentioned Netflix he might want the synced file to become unplayable (imagine a DRM expiration date) or even deleted. What I don't understand is why one would want that?!
computerprep 148 Posted November 28, 2019 Author Posted November 28, 2019 Why would I want this: to better manage the number of devices that my content is currently stored on. Without manually deleting downloads from the admin dashboard. After X days have passed, the sync job is removed and the downloaded file is deleted.
neik 873 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Is your user base for your *personal* media center that big?
