Updated to 4.3.0.26 this morning and Playlists are no longer an item in My Media.

Also Playlists are missing from the response from

/emby/Users/<user_id>/Views

Do they have to be turned on or enabled somewhere now?

Posted

No, are they in library setup?

Posted

Yes they are in the library setup page

Can you run a library scan, if you haven't already? Please see if that restores them. If not then try refreshing the metadata on the playlists library.

Is is disabled in User Preferences-Home Screen?

I run a library scan, still no playlists.

I can not see anywhere in the home screen settings that lets you show hide the playlists

Do they appear in your Library order?

and the hide option should be perspective to the library order.

Solved, my user had lost access to them in the user settings under access.

Added access and they now appear, no idea why my user lost access, obviously something to do with the update but not sure how wide spread it will be.

More then likely everyone that applied access controls as by default new libraries are denied.

After updating 4.3.0.26, my playlists are not showing. They do not appear under my Home Screen settings under my profile, I have scanned the library and also created a new test playlist to see if that would make it reappear. I see others are having similar issues and I was hoping you might have further suggestions. Thank you.

Hi.  Check the user access control.

For those like me who haven't updated yet - just to be clear, this means for all users where I have unchecked the box "Enable access to all libraries", their access to playlists will be disabled until I manually enable it?

"Playlists" is now listed as a library? Is this so users can see each other's playlists?

Maybe a blog entry addressing this would be in order. Seems like a somewhat significant change that warrants a little explication.

I have scanned my library and refreshed my metadata for the playlists.  I tried unchecking and rechecking "enable access to all libraries" under User and Access, but I still cannot see my playlists which showed up and worked perfectly fine before the update.  My playlists still exist in my data folder.  What do I have to do to get these to show up again?

Hi.  Can you show us with a screenshot what exactly isn't showing up where?

Thanks.

try refreshing the metadata on the playlists library.

That is what I did.  I tried to refresh the metadata with the playlist library.  I did that again today and checked the box to replace existing images this time.  I also tried scanning the playlist library.  None of this worked to restore them.  I am on server version 4.3.0.30.

To confirm, I looked at the playlist.xml files in my Emby-Server folder, and they were all overwritten.  The users were still listed in the files, but the songs were gone.  The only thing that I had done in the past few weeks was update the server.  I made no other changes and used no other options.  I only had 3 days of backups, and all of them were in the same state with playlists emptied of songs.  Fortunately, I am paranoid and backup the playlist folders/files myself every time I update them.  I overwrote the existing files with those files in the Emby-Server folder.  It seems to have restored them according to what I see in Windows on the server, but I have to test it on one of my client devices which I can't do until tonight.  It is a bit disturbing that it overwrote my files deleting all song entries.  If I didn't have a backup to the backup, I would be in trouble.

When you refresh metadata, metadata files such as xml will be written to again.

I get that.  I wasn't lamenting that the files were overwritten, only that they were overwritten with files emptied of the songs.  The playlist files being emptied of songs happened prior to me refreshing the metadata though as I have a backup from Saturday with empty playlist.xml files prior to refreshing the metadata but after the server updated.  I have not touched anything on the server in the few months, and the playlists were working prior to the server update.  Something seems to have happened with the server update.  At this point, it looks to be resolved for me though.
