Wondertje 10 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 (edited) I may be blind but I tried searching for this. A few days ago there was an update to my emby server which I only noticed when I was looking at something and realised the overlay looked different. With this new overlay the volume control disappeared and I can't seem to figure out how to get it back. Where did it go? Am I just completely blind? See picture for example. It also changed a lot of other minor behaviours that I guess I'm gonna have to get used to. Like when I look at the start screen of my videos (like "up next" and such), it no longer plays the video when I press it centre frame, but opens the information from which I can play it. Not something I'm too happy with, but something I can get used to. The volume button is kind of essential though. I also can't scroll horizontally in for example list of actors etc, so the lists get cut off with no way to access the information. The way I run Emby is by having it installed on my PC and then (from home) going to localhost in my Google Chrome browser to see all of my media. I'm running 4.3.0.25 Thanks in advance! Happy2Play 9781 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 (edited) Is that a touch screen, as I have never seen controls on screen for a PC. But this is what I get on Chrome on my PC. My image is for a movie so it is a little different then TV (previous/Next) Edited November 21, 2019 by Happy2Play
ebr 16184 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Yeah, gotta be a touch screen because that's the mobile player layout.
Wondertje 10 Posted November 21, 2019 Author Posted November 21, 2019 (edited) My laptop has a touch screen (It's a Lenovo Yoga 510-something), but the screen in question is my secondary one which is a regular screen. It's definitely something new that started happening with the latest update, had no issues before that. Before that I had the volume control at the right of the screen, and not as seen above. Wondertje 10 Posted November 23, 2019 Author Posted November 23, 2019 (edited) Any more suggestions on what to do with this? I've double and triple checked that tablet mode (the thing that triggers when I flip my screen 180+ degrees and it becomes a tablet) isn't on, nor is triggered when opening localhost in my browser. EDIT: I installed Firefox to try there and to my surprise the overlay looked the same, BUT there was a volume control down in the left corner next to the "next" arrow (was testing a TV-series). The film I tested however, had no such volume control. Only a text saying "ends at yy:xx". EDIT 2: Nevermind, the volume control was only present the very first thing I played. Now it's gone no matter what I play or how many times I restart Firefox. Edited November 23, 2019 by Wondertje
psybertech 33 Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 Interesting... I noted this too HERE... but I never thought about it being a mobile view that I was seeing since it always worked before. I too have a touchscreen laptop, and maybe more interesting, a Lenovo Y50-70, but never use the screen. Its been closed since I first got it. I only use the HDMI out and/or a USB to HDMI for my secondary (or tertiary?) monitor, and I am never use tablet mode. Odd...
Wondertje 10 Posted November 23, 2019 Author Posted November 23, 2019 I don't think you have the mobile view though, since your back/forth buttons, etc are all at the bottom bar. Interesting that you're also missing the volume control though, that should say something.
Luke 42079 Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 It should only be happening if you have touch input connected to your desktop. We're looking into improving it. Thanks.
Wondertje 10 Posted November 26, 2019 Author Posted November 26, 2019 Thanks Luke. I just think it's odd that it came on so suddenly unless you changed something regarding it in the last update. If so, could you please revert it back for now until you find a better solution?
Luke 42079 Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 It's not an easy revert and the release is already out. But if you use the online web app as your regular web app: http://app.emby.media Then you'll get the fix sooner without having to wait for the next release.
Wondertje 10 Posted November 26, 2019 Author Posted November 26, 2019 (edited) I'll look into it, thanks! EDIT: Now I got a bit confused. I clicked the link you provided and it lead me straight to what I normally use - just a website in Google Chrome? Is that where the problem is supposedly fixed or is that somewhere else? EDIT 2: Oh, I probably misread what you said completely, my bad! Thanks again and I hope to see a fix soon! Edited November 26, 2019 by Wondertje
Gerry941 3 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Got exactly the same problem when playing music from my NAS via a laptop. Yesterday the volume control popped up and remained there all day. Today - no volume control. (No touch screen here!) Really annoying as I have to use an app on my phone or adjust the volume on the amplifier. Surely with all the other abilities of Emby this is fundamental.

Gerry941 3 Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Hi I think you've come to the same conclusion - the problem may well be the browser. I was using Vivaldi (a European browser with good levels of privacy) but noting on the forum someone mentioned a browser problem - I tried using Chrome. The result is that I now have volume control, stop, pause and start. The down side is that my wife has started to complain again about sound levels! But I can cope with that. Thank you for your suggestion.
