List of Tags and Years

I can retrieve a list of items filtered by years and tags

But I don't see a way of getting a list of existing years or tags from the system to build a menu from.

Is there a way to do this without having to query the whole collection?

/Years and /Tags returns what I need, the actual list of years and tags.

Yup that's it. And if you look at how the web app does it, those endpoints support all of the same filters too, so you can get a very specific list of years or tags.
