invader 17 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) Hi there, I've checked the wiki and other related posts. Still not sure why this isn't working. I've chosen this format: show name S01E02-E03 episode name.ext As after some testing I can see it's compatible with Plex and Kodi too! However Emby is just seeing the first episode. Example name: Rocko's Modern Life (1993)/Season 01/Rocko's Modern Life - S01E01-E02 - No Pain, No Gain & Who Gives a Buck.mkv Screenshot attached showing episode 1 but not too. I thought it may have been since I renamed them. So I moved the folder out, scanned the library to remove it, then I added it back in and scanned again. Same issue persists. What's really weird is, this file works as expected: Seinfeld (1989)/Season 09/Seinfeld - S09E23-E24 - The Finale.mkv As always, any assistance is greatly appreciated. ebr 16169 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 This is a wild flyer but try changing "&" to "and"...
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) I had no issue adding that exact naming. tested on 4.2.1.0 Edited November 13, 2019 by Happy2Play
invader 17 Posted November 13, 2019 Author Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) Thanks everyone.I wondered about the "&" symbol too.Just renamed it to "Rocko's Modern Life - S01E01-E02 - No Pain, No Gain and Who Gives a Buck" and this didn't fix it.I do have .nfo files. I have attached an example. Also to test if this was the issue, I just deleted the .nfo for one of the episodes, removed it from Emby and re-added it. This did work.What's wrong with the .nfo that it's breaking it? As a side note I tested the filename and .nfo in Kodi and Plex and both work so it seems to be "standard" if there is such a thing <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <!--created on 2019-11-12 20:32:47 - tinyMediaManager 3.0.5--> <episodedetails> <title>No Pain, No Gain</title> <originaltitle/> <showtitle>Rocko's Modern Life</showtitle> <season>1</season> <episode>1</episode> <displayseason>-1</displayseason> <displayepisode>-1</displayepisode> <id>177415</id> <uniqueid default="true" type="tvdb">177415</uniqueid> <rating>9.3</rating> <userrating>0.0</userrating> <votes>6</votes> <plot>Rocko and Heffer join a health club in hopes of losing a few of those unsightly pounds.</plot> <runtime>11</runtime> <thumb>http://thetvdb.com/banners/episodes/75729/177415.jpg</thumb> <mpaa>TV-Y7</mpaa> <premiered>1993-09-18</premiered> <aired>1993-09-18</aired> <watched>false</watched> <playcount/> <studio>Nickelodeon</studio> <credits>Vince Calandra</credits> <credits>Martin Olsen</credits> <credits>Jeff Myers</credits> <credits>Kevin O'Brien</credits> <credits>Roger Chiasson</credits> <credits>Don Spencer</credits> <director>Timothy Berglund</director> <director>Roger Chiasson</director> <director>Don Spencer</director> <actor> <name>Richard Simmons</name> <role/> <thumb/> <profile/> </actor> <actor> <name>Linda Wallem</name> <role/> <thumb/> <profile/> </actor> <trailer/> <dateadded>2019-11-03 17:09:50</dateadded> <fileinfo> <streamdetails> <video> <codec>h264</codec> <aspect>1.37</aspect> <width>720</width> <height>480</height> <durationinseconds>1410</durationinseconds> <stereomode/> </video> <audio> <codec>AC3</codec> <language/> <channels>2</channels> </audio> </streamdetails> </fileinfo> <!--tinyMediaManager meta data--> <source>UNKNOWN</source> </episodedetails> <episodedetails> <title>Who Gives a Buck?</title> <originaltitle/> <showtitle>Rocko's Modern Life</showtitle> <season>1</season> <episode>2</episode> <displayseason>-1</displayseason> <displayepisode>-1</displayepisode> <id>2603551</id> <uniqueid default="true" type="tvdb">2603551</uniqueid> <rating>8.0</rating> <userrating>0.0</userrating> <votes>4</votes> <plot>Rocko gets his very own credit card, and Heffer convinces him to go on a spending spree at the mall.</plot> <runtime>11</runtime> <thumb>http://thetvdb.com/banners/episodes/75729/2603551.jpg</thumb> <mpaa>TV-Y7</mpaa> <premiered>1993-09-18</premiered> <aired>1993-09-18</aired> <watched>false</watched> <playcount/> <studio>Nickelodeon</studio> <credits>Vince Calandra</credits> <credits>Martin Olsen</credits> <credits>Jeff Myers</credits> <credits>Kevin O'Brien</credits> <credits>Roger Chiasson</credits> <credits>Don Spencer</credits> <director>Timothy Berglund</director> <director>Roger Chiasson</director> <director>Don Spencer</director> <actor> <name>Richard Simmons</name> <role/> <thumb/> <profile/> </actor> <actor> <name>Linda Wallem</name> <role/> <thumb/> <profile/> </actor> <trailer/> <dateadded>2019-11-03 17:09:50</dateadded> <fileinfo> <streamdetails> <video> <codec>h264</codec> <aspect>1.37</aspect> <width>720</width> <height>480</height> <durationinseconds>1410</durationinseconds> <stereomode/> </video> <audio> <codec>AC3</codec> <language/> <channels>2</channels> </audio> </streamdetails> </fileinfo> <!--tinyMediaManager meta data--> <source>UNKNOWN</source> </episodedetails> Edited November 13, 2019 by invader
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Emby does multi-episodes this way. nfo file with <episodenumberend> number. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <episodedetails> <plot>Rocko and Heffer join a health club in hopes of losing a few of those unsightly pounds. Rocko gets his very own credit card, and Heffer convinces him to go on a spending spree at the mall.</plot> <outline /> <lockdata>false</lockdata> <dateadded>2019-11-13 10:57:01</dateadded> <title>No Pain, No Gain, Who Gives a Buck?</title> <director>Timothy Berglund</director> <director>Roger Chiasson</director> <director>Don Spencer</director> <rating>9.3</rating> <year>1993</year> <tvdbid>177415</tvdbid> <art> <poster>C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos\TV Shows - nfo\Rocko's Modern Life (1993)\Season 01\Rocko's Modern Life - S01E01-E02 - No Pain, No Gain & Who Gives a Buck-thumb.jpg</poster> </art> <actor> <name>Richard Simmons</name> <type>GuestStar</type> </actor> <actor> <name>Linda Wallem</name> <type>GuestStar</type> </actor> <episode>1</episode> <episodenumberend>2</episodenumberend> <season>1</season> <aired>1993-09-18</aired> <fileinfo> <streamdetails /> </fileinfo> </episodedetails>
invader 17 Posted November 13, 2019 Author Posted November 13, 2019 Ah I see. Different to the kodi standard: “ For multi-part episodes, add multiple <episodedetails> XML blocks in succession in the same nfo file” Any chance the nfo plugin can be adjusted to support the kodi format?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) It is really odd this has not been brought up in the many years Emby has been doing it this way. Edit.. it was actually mentioned here. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/69879-reading-and-writing-of-nfo-for-multi-part-episodes-is-wrong/ Edited November 13, 2019 by Happy2Play
invader 17 Posted November 13, 2019 Author Posted November 13, 2019 Yeah I seem to be the nfo squeaky wheel.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Updated previous post with link about this.
invader 17 Posted November 13, 2019 Author Posted November 13, 2019 Ah yes I see. Thanks. Bigger issue than I thought. Sounds like if they were just merged for the database, I imagine when it scrobbles to Trakt it would just mark one episode as played. Oh dear
Luke 42077 Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 When it's tagged correctly with the ending episode number it should work with Trakt. I'm not positive that it's been implemented, but it's easily added if not.
invader 17 Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 Just ran into this problem again. For the record I can no longer use: "Rocko's Modern Life (1992) - S01E01-E02 - No Pain, No Gain & Who Gives a Buck-480p.x264.AC3" Emby doesn't recognise any files like this, regardless of .nfo I realise that I use a lot of "-" in my chosen naming convention. Strictly the recommended convention uses spaces instead. My work around is to use: Rocko's Modern Life (1992) - S01E01E02 - No Pain, No Gain & Who Gives a Buck-480p.x264.AC3 When I do this, they now show up in Emby again. There is still the issue of multiple episodes being read from .nfo using the Kodi standard of multiple: <episodedetails> for each episode in the one .nfo. Is there any chance this can be implemented for Emby? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Luke 42077 Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Why do you feel emby doesn't recognize them?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 11 minutes ago, Luke said: Why do you feel emby doesn't recognize them? As previously discussed we use <episodenumberend> and it appears the new Kodi way is both episodedetails stacked in one file. per linked topic above On 2/9/2019 at 5:56 PM, Luke said: Yea it's a long standing issue because in the database each media file gets a single metadata record. It's not something we can easily split apart into two. At some point we'll get to this though. Thanks. 1
invader 17 Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 Yes thank you. So I was kinda just bumping this issue to see if there was any chance of getting a solution. Sorry to be a pain.
