Emby for Roku forcing me to use HWA

So when I stream movies on my network the Emby for Roku app is forcing a transcode (or encode not sure which) on my MKV files resulting in useless playback. Whereas when using the Amazon Roku app it direct streams my MKV files and only transcodes my audio resulting in perfect playback. What gives ?
