piecesofme 3 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Hello, Just trying Emby for the first time. It’s not been as straightforward as I had hoped but I’m finally getting there. One question I have that I can’t seem to figure out - is Emby supposed to (or will it?) pull movie descriptions/data and TV show synposis/season/episode data? I’ve finally managed to add my first library (Movies, in this case) and while it’s finding them and generally organizing them alphabetically (which is what I want), it’s not pulling any movie covers or any descriptions. I think that if I want Emby to pull posters, I may have to upgrade to Emby Premiere but is it the same for movie descriptions/synopses? I’m wondering if I’m not having it work because I’ve failed to set it up correctly or if it’s because I need to upgrade to Premiere. Thanks so much in advance for your assistance! I look forward to learning more about Emby.

ebr 16178 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Hi. No, Premiere is not required for metadata retrieval. What is required is following some of our simple naming conventions. Please compare your files to the documented conventions. Thanks. Movie naming
Luke 42078 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Hi there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.
piecesofme 3 Posted November 11, 2019 Author Posted November 11, 2019 Just to follow-up, my I’m ridiculously meticulous in my naming conventions and coming from Plex, I know how important it is to have them all perfect. So, that wasn’t it. For some reason, it just didn’t start pulling the metadata right away. I did a force metadata refresh - which helped, but it didn’t pull everything. I had many, many that it either didn’t pull any metadata and I had to manually “identify” the shows (even though they should have been found automatically) or it didn’t pull all the data like it would be missing images, even though it “found” the correct TV show. It seemed that manually “identifying” those shows seemed to fix most of that as well. In addition, I’ve also had a lot of shows that pulled the general metadata for the overall show and pulled images but failed to actually pull episode level data requiring me to do a force metadata refresh on all of those, as well. Am I correct that (other than refreshing the metadata for everything) I cannot do a batch metadata pull for just the shows that I want it to do? Thanks so much for chiming in. Not sure what the problem is on this. It’s frustrating but at least it’s getting resolved.
Luke 42078 Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Thanks for the feedback. If you can go over a specific example we can probably pinpoint the cause.
