Scheduled recording and Live TV stops and freezes

Hi team

This is incredible and very annoying. Last Friday (the big family TV watching evening) I had the same issues and yesterday Friday evening.

Emby had started a scheduled recording, 2019-11-08 19:57:59.999 Info LiveTV: Recording timer fired for Vild med dans.

and 2 minutes later it cancels it 2019-11-08 19:59:32.344 Error SharedHttpPipelineSource: Error copying live stream, will keep trying.

This error I find many times in the log.

Then 48 minutes after the recording should have started, we started to watch it, and I see it only has recording 2 minutes of commercials. Crap.

So we start watching the TV show from the current point in time.

That fails again and again and again. Every time I start Live TV, it's on for 2 seconds, then freezes. I have to stop it and start it again. Same again and again.

We never came to actually watching it.

During all of this I checked 2 things:

1. I check channel status of the HDHomeRun. During watching all the channel information was there, e.g. signal strength, auality and so on. The only was when the Live TV froze (stopped working), the "Streaming Rate" in the HDHomeRun went from 12 Mbps to "none". I dont know if that tells anything.

2. While the Emby Live TV was freezing and stopping again and again, I started a direct stream on my laptop in VLC, using the channel link in HDHomeRun, and had no issues. We actually watching some of the show on my laptop. To me that could conclude that the tuner and the signal is fine, and it's Embys capabilities to handle the signal, coming from a non-expert in that area.

Now I'm just guessing here, but I feel like if the stream has a mili-secondglitch VLC will just continue sttreaming no matter what, where if Emby gets a glitch in the signal, it cannot handle such a glitch and stops. That is probably not the reason, but just my way of thinking :)

If you believe this should be solved in a upcoming server-release I would very much like to be beta tester on it, if possible, because this is very annoying.

Best Regards Simon

Server on: Synology 918+

hi @@simonselmer, yes the recording process will be much more resilient in the upcoming 4.3 release, which should be any day now. Let's re-evaluate once you have that. Thanks !
