mbuser18 11 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 I noticed some of my multi movie folders have not been working as expected. I looked at the guide: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Movie-naming and it says naming MUST be just the one option " - " but i could have sworn before it allowed also the brackets "[version]", which is how i've been doing it. So do i have to change all these now? Thanks. I also noticed my movie extras have stopped showing up, probably due to same reason.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Yes the wiki changed but I just tested in 4.3 and bracketed versions still works. Can you go over a example of the issue you are having? Extras currently only apply to one version when you are dealing with multiversion.
mbuser18 11 Posted November 3, 2019 Author Posted November 3, 2019 thanks. yes some of the brackets are working, and some aren't. it seems as though if i add a new version LATER it doesn't work, but if I add all versions at once to the library, maybe that works better. not sure. but if it's better to use the dashes, i will. the other thing, ive been searching for a clear answer on how to update the library when i change a bunch of names due to different file naming conventions. how do i do that? like, right now, i am dumping all extras into a single extras folder, and i dont name those files anything with a conventions; i just dump them in as is. do i have to follow a naming convention for the files inside the extras folder? here is one of the problem movie. extras dont show up in any of the versions on emby.
Luke 42079 Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 It might be due to that extra text in the brackets, although i'm not quite sure yet.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 (edited) You have a extra nfo file in that folder also. The original without brackets and the media to go with it does not exist Extra text would appear to be the issue when using brackets, in my tests. It doesn't matter if " - " is used. mbuser18 11 Posted November 5, 2019 Author Posted November 5, 2019 ok, i changed the filenames to the " - " system. this movie still is showing up separately. Is there a way to manually rescan it? I rebooted the server, i did a manual scan of the library in the scheduled task. It is still showing separately. btw, i've never understood how to rescan or refresh after "fixing" things like filenames. thanks.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 (edited) You would need to show folder and filenames if Emby is not automatically grouping them. Have you tried removing them from the library, performing a library scan, then re-add them? Edited November 5, 2019 by Happy2Play
pwhodges 2012 Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 ok, i changed the filenames to the " - " system. this movie still is showing up separately. Have you checked that the filename before the - matches the folder name exactly?
mbuser18 11 Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 Have you checked that the filename before the - matches the folder name exactly? Everything looks right to me!
Luke 42079 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 try deleting that ignore folder that is highlighted there, then run a library scan.
mbuser18 11 Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 try deleting that ignore folder that is highlighted there, then run a library scan. ok, i will...but there is a .ignore file in there as well, so it should work.
mbuser18 11 Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 ok, i removed the ignore folder, rescanned, still the same.
Luke 42079 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 what are the complete contents of the folder?

mbuser18 11 Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 I have not tried this yet. Let me try. ok, I just tried this. It doesnt change, still the same situation with 3 separate listings.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 @@Happy2Play are you able to reproduce? With that specific naming, yes Apocalypse Now (1979) - 1080p LQ.mp4 Apocalypse Now (1979) - 1080p Redux 2001.mkv Apocalypse Now (1979) - 2160p Final Cut.mkv But changing the naming works. Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 (edited) Not really the answer, as why should anything after the " - " matter? The wiki would be wrong if there are other conditions required in the naming after the hyphen. Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ". If using the dash method anything following the dash will be what you see in the Emby client app. But I only tested this in 4.2.1.0. I will follow up with the same test in 4.3.0.20 to see if I get the same behavior. **Same results in beta. Edited November 10, 2019 by Happy2Play

Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Un-answered topic as post 19 would technically be a workaround.
