RedBaron164 18 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 I'm running Emby 4.2.1.0 on Ubuntu 18.04 and my media libraries are being mapped via fstab cifs mounts. Real-time monitoring is not currently working and I'm not sure if it's because I have something misconfigured or if it just won't work in my current configuration. If it helps, this is an example mount from my fstab config://10.10.0.5/Movies /drives/movies cifs domain=domain.local,username=account,password=password,rw,uid=999 0 0
RedBaron164 18 Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 New items haven't been showing up in my library until I run a library scan. I've waited up to an hour and nothing shows up. Where as on my old Windows Emby server things would normally show up within a few minutes.
Luke 42078 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Did you try refreshing the page in the browser?
RedBaron164 18 Posted October 30, 2019 Author Posted October 30, 2019 I've tried refreshing the page, but I haven't tried closing the browser or anything like that.
Luke 42078 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 The .net core runtime uses INotify for file system notifications, so that means INotify will need to support your file system setup. Last I checked I thought it didn't support cifs but i could be wrong.
mastrmind11 722 Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 inotify is at the kernel level and doesn't propogate over the network. here's a good explanation. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4231243/inotify-with-nfs
RedBaron164 18 Posted October 31, 2019 Author Posted October 31, 2019 Ok, so real-time monitoring won't work with cifs mounted drives, that's disappointing but not a huge deal, I'll just have the library scan run hourly instead of every 12 hours.
