Real-time Monitoring not working

I'm running Emby 4.2.1.0 on Ubuntu 18.04 and my media libraries are being mapped via fstab cifs mounts. Real-time monitoring is not currently working and I'm not sure if it's because I have something misconfigured or if it just won't work in my current configuration.

If it helps, this is an example mount from my fstab config:
//10.10.0.5/Movies /drives/movies cifs domain=domain.local,username=account,password=password,rw,uid=999 0 0

Hi there, why do you feel this way?

New items haven't been showing up in my library until I run a library scan. I've waited up to an hour and nothing shows up. Where as on my old Windows Emby server things would normally show up within a few minutes.

Did you try refreshing the page in the browser?

I've tried refreshing the page, but I haven't tried closing the browser or anything like that.

The .net core runtime uses INotify for file system notifications, so that means INotify will need to support your file system setup. Last I checked I thought it didn't support cifs but i could be wrong.

Ok, so real-time monitoring won't work with cifs mounted drives, that's disappointing but not a huge deal, I'll just have the library scan run hourly instead of every 12 hours.

depending on how you get your media, Emby has an API call that will notify you of any new media.
