noisy video (snow)

I am running on Windows 10 64bit, Server is DESKTOP-5Q0BQDM, Emby Theater 3.0.9, Emby Mobile 4.2.1.0, user is bruce
My receiver server is Hauppauge WinTv 8.5.37122 with two WinTV-dualHD tuners, they have led lights to indicate when a channel is active

I just setup this computer over the past few days, it had previously been in another location with a different dualHD tuner

since I set it up I have noticed intermittent (every few minutes) signal interruptions (video pauses/snow)

I had noticed this in the previous setup but thought it was poor signal strength.  I have seen poor signal strength in the past (another computer, the same tuners) but in that case the tuner Led turned or flashed amber. Now the Led stays green.

In addition I have opened the Hauppauge WinTV App and I can stream or record the same shows with no interference.

This occurs on any channel I select, and on every show I attempt to watch or record, on Emby Theater and in the browser.

I attached the most recent server log, I did see some errors on it but don't know what they mean, one (of many) video interruptions occurred at 2019-10-24 17:14, I didn't see any problem at that point in the log.

As I type this I am watching another recording and it has had very few drops, earlier I watch one with almost continuous drops (bot on same channel)

My main question is why the tuner can be watched on Win-TV and at the same time have problems in Emby using the same signal ?

In the past when I did have a weak signel (I have since changed the antenna) WinTv would play the program with very few interuptions Emby would totaly lock up with weak signal and I would have to close Theater and reopen it.

At least with this problem it continues to play, just poor quality video (audio does not seem to be effected.)

I think I got it attached this time,( of course I thought it was attached the first time)

Hi there, in the near future we will have revamped hauppauge support and this shouldn't happen anymore. Thanks for reporting.

Thanks for the feedback, I switched computers because the other one sometimes had trouble getting the tuner to connect (it would start but emby couldn't connect) so I switched to this computer, which so far connects every time but has sketchy video (other one had good video when it did connect) just wondering whey it acts differently on two different computers with the same tuners ?

I can probably live with this for a while, a little annoying, but at least it records what I ask it to.

Unfortunately that's really hard to say. Is the tuner in a different location with the cable input line being longer and/or running through a splitter or multiple splitters? That's one thing that could have a major impact.

all I did was move the tuner USB's from one computer to the other, I checked and the WinTV version is the same on both computers, first one had good video (when it connected) and this one doesn't

If you can solve whatever the Hauppauge problems are it should correct everything so just have to wait till then

Thanks for the assistance , Bruce

Are the computers in the same room?

No, different rooms different antennas, this one had the same video problem in the other room (at the time I thought it was the antenna) all I did was swap computers ( I did swap the hard drives because this room is where I record) but they are basically the same configuration, only thing on each computer is Emby and WinTV for the tuners. both new windows 10 64bit computers.

Don't know if this will help, but I noticed today I had one recorded program that's video was so bad Theater locked up tying to play it back, I closed Theater and opened the file in WinTV, it played it back, did see a few "bupps/pauses" in the playback but their player was able to play the entire recording.

If you get a chance please let me know when an update that addresses tis comes out.

Thanks. We are working on all new Hauppauge support that will be much more robust and resilient to this sort of thing.
