tactualtaco 0 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 (edited) Hi there, I currently have two folders, movies and tv-shows. In these folder are a mix of raw files and folders with raw files. When adding these to libraries in their respective types, Emby starts creating folders and symlinking to new files in these. I am hosting Emby on a seedbox, this means the seedbox host count twice the data used because of the symlinks or copies (originial file being seeded, and the organized file). Can I disable this behavior? I have no need for the organization feature. My current workaround is using the "Mixed content" library type, but this in turn messes up TV-Show identification somehow. Luke 42085 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Hi, there's nothing in Emby Server that creates symlinks. Can you describe in more detail what you are seeing? I'm afraid I don't quite follow the situation. Thanks !
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Emby requires a minimum of a series folder for TV Shows. It currently will not automatically display a folder full of episodes. Your only option would be Home videos and photos to present the items as they are.
tactualtaco 0 Posted October 16, 2019 Author Posted October 16, 2019 Hi, there's nothing in Emby Server that creates symlinks. Can you describe in more detail what you are seeing? I'm afraid I don't quite follow the situation. Thanks ! Let's say I download "movie.1080p-test.mkv" to "/downloads/". I have "/downloads/" setup as a movie library in Emby. After adding this library, Emby identifies the file and creates a folder called "Movie (2019)" and moves (copies? symlinks?) the file in there. This leads me to have a file in the "/downloads/" folder, and in "/downloads/Movie (2019)" (I don't know if Emby actually tries to delete the original and fails because of ruTorrent "using" the file while seeding, but whatever) The bottom line is I don't want that organization feature of Emby, but I guess I'll have to take to the feature requests then! Emby requires a minimum of a series folder for TV Shows. It currently will not automatically display a folder full of episodes. Your only option would be Home videos and photos to present the items as they are. Heres the thing though, it does work perfectly for movies when using the mixed content library type for movies. It identifies and displays correctly in Emby with all metadata. When it comes to TV-Shows though I have to manually identify 90% of the shows, even though the metadata scraping is setup exactly the same as the TV-Shows library.
ProXy 11 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 (edited) Why don‘t you organize your media structure so that Emby can work like it is supposed to?Just use FileBot.. Edited October 27, 2019 by ProXy
Luke 42085 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 After adding this library, Emby identifies the file and creates a folder called "Movie (2019)" and moves (copies? symlinks?) the file in there. Are you talking about the Auto Organize plugin? Because the core server doesn't move any of your files. Nor does it make copies.
