MarkH99 0 Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 I am trying to install the latest version of Emby Server that was downloaded from the Emby site. I started the install once and for some reason, it forced a reboot in the middle of the install. Whenever I now try to install Emby Server, I get the following message during the "Creating Shortcuts . . . " step: ********************* Error Error creating shortcut system.runtime.interopServices.COMException Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component ********************* When I poress the OK button, the install aborts and does not end. The PC has Windows 10 OS with all updates applied. It is using an i7 processor with 32 GB of RAM. Any idea as to how I can get past this message and complete a clean install? Appreciate any and all help or suggestions -
ebr 16187 Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Hi. Not sure why you would be running into this but it is probably due to some missing or conflicting component of some sort. You can always just drop the portable version wherever you wish and see if that runs okay.
thepineman 0 Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 I have searched the database and I am getting this same system as described above. Has the issue been found?

"The issue" is presumably something to do with your Windows installation, because in the three years since the earlier report of this, rather many people have succeeded in installing Emby without a problem. Have you checked the Windows System Event Log to see what COM component is giving the failure message? Paul
