I'm looking for some default images to be included with the server. If you have any ideas or would like to design some, please submit them for consideration.

We need:

- Movies

- TV

- Music

- Games

- Books

- Photos

- Channels

- Live TV

- A generic fallback for folders

The higher the resolution, the better, but they must be 16*9 exactly. They also need to be family friendly. Thanks.

I like those too. What about non-english users though?

It's a good point, but it's also just a default to prevent blank gray tiles from showing up. many people will want to replace them with their own.

The different languages would be easy as long as I know the proper spelling of said languages as its basically just a font with an image mask on top of them. This was just a quicky to see how they work. I could even do them like the second channels one with the image just a texture setup.

yea. my one suggestion would be a little extra spacing so that the text isn't right at the borders. i guess that means slightly reduced font sizes, but i think it'd be ok.

That will be an easy fix. I am guessing close to what the music image is spacing wise?

yea the music one i think is perfect.

Ok ill constrain them to that width then.

Honestly, I think something more along the lines of yardameus' post here http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/4947-flat-ehs-collection-icons/ would look a little more professional.  That's not to say that there's anything wrong with those icons in this thread, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would like them.  I'm just not entirely sure that's the look you want to be projecting to any new users.

Love to help but im short on time lately, the Disparity set I made is mostly done if you want to use that, or I can throw something together like the MB3 set from gamebrowser. Examples..

That top set is very nice, although colors are a bit too strong for the web client. Thanks though.

When I have a moment I'll have a look and play around. Personally the way to go is the icon route as it will be more universal then actually a text based image. However, the icons have to have some harmony and not stick out like a sore thumb.

I did these

Shared files from OneDrive http://1drv.ms/1hHX4nY

For boxing, football, home videos, movies, music videos etc...

They were on transparent backgrounds, forgot what size I did them tho!

They look good in square and in the WP and roku clients. Not sure how they'd look on anything else mind you!

Maybe a good idea is for the devs to pick out a couple they like and then do a public vote ?

I like Bloodtaker's images but I do prefer the guidelines listed by ErgoProxy.

I think Live TV is confusing. That's basically the icon that is used for casting/remote. Live TV Alt is better. I wonder if something could be done to better indicate 'live". Maybe the TV with a person icon inside? Sort of like a newscaster sort of feel.

I also noticed on the web client that there was a collections icon needed.  Is this the same as the generic folder you were speaking of?  I made one of my boxset/collections image.  Also a live tv alternate.  If there's interest I'll throw 'em in the zip, etc...
