All Channels vs Single Channel Recording

Good Day...What is the effect of the "all channels" selection when setting up a recording. The reason I ask is that there are some days/nights that I have multiple recording requests that start at the same time. I have a 4 tuner setup which presumably would only allow 4 shows to be recorded at the same time. So if I have 5 or 6 recording requests, does MB skip number 5 and 6 and record it at a later time? I say "later" time because I use CT to record some shows from the Chicago area since they usually come on 1 or 2 hours earlier from the East and West coast feeds. TIA...Cheers mate

From my experience, the option to record on ALL channels would be for programming that may appear on different channels and fit the requirement for the recording schedule.  Typically when dealing with shows in syndication or maybe from overlapping broadcast areas or multiple sources.

Example:  Program is airing on channel 3.1 from the Chicago station and the same program is airing on channel 12.2 from a different area (even at a differet time).  This is helpful when trying to fill in any missing episodes and they become available on a different channel.

If Single channel is selected, it will only record when the program aires on the specified channel.

I would also suggest checking the option to "Don't record episodes that are already in my library", or you might end up with many copies of the same programming.

Good Day...Thanks Scott for the reference. I do have the option checked so that was a simple to do. The selection of the channels vs channel is based on their branding (abc, cbs, nbc, etc.) I believe as opposed to their respective physical channel. Although some branding stations do carry their channel across the nation as the same one like ABC 7 in Los Angeles is also channel 7 in Chicago but this is not true for all of them. Thanks for the clarification and your explanation supported my theory which is just fine. Cheers...

Yes it just means it will record the show on any channel that it airs on.
