Play ongoing livestream recorded to mp4

On Windows 10, I'm using ffmpeg to access livestreams and save them locally as mp4 files.  I am able to play these mp4 files in Emby.  However, I'd like to start watching on a delay so that I can fast forward through various parts.  If the recording starts at 6 and I start watching at 6:30, then the file will report as 30 minutes long, causing Emby to stop the video after 30 minutes and not update as the recording continues.  I need to stop the video in Emby and then restart it to refresh the file to get the rest that has recorded.  Is there a way that Emby can refresh or manage this in the background without me having to stop and restart the video constantly?

Other than that, I don't think this will work as Emby will just think it is a file and will not be expecting it to change.
