Does anybody know if emby connect works if the IP address is a public address? I use comporium in South Carolina and it won't connect. When i sign in, on Android app and roku TV app, they just return me to the sign-in page without error. I used the web app on my work computer and almost same thing. It did see my server but won't let me connect. I setup port forwarding in router and firewall. When i use websites like can you see me, it can't find the port because it's a public address. Let me know if this requires logs..

Is emby connect compatible with public ip address? Thank you!!

Hi, yes it can work, but you need to establish basic connectivity before worrying about Emby Connect.

That means your first thing should be getting the canyouseeme test to succeed, or accessing the web app directly without using Emby Connect.

Ok, that makes sense. I suppose that is beyond the scope of this board. I will research that and let you all know if i have any issues after establishing that connectivity. Thank you!

I am obviously a novice at this. I spoke with my ISP and i got it mixed up. I am on a private IP address. Does that change things?

If you would like some private help with this via chat, phone or temviewer remote session let me know and I can help you with this.

It's likely just a matter of getting your routers/firewall setup correctly for pass through of required ports then just setting Emby up to use those settings.

Feel free to PM here on the forum for help or to send a picture of your current firewall and Emby settings so we can see how far you have gotten in the setup and give you some advice.

Thank you so much!! I just got a static IP address from my ISP. I just got permission to work from home some days so i needed the static for the VPN (already confirmed not compatible with their stuff). This made it cost effective lol. Everything has started working since. My sister in law in Guatemala and in Michigan can both view my stuff. You guys rock!!!!

Thank you Luke as well. I won't tag you since you didnt ask me to and dont want to take you from other work. But thanks!
