JaScoMa 34 Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Hello.. Have found that my system can stream MKVs without any issues. So movies which I want to watch without encoding, I can. I run the server on a sbc with a 32gb emmc. Issue is that there's transcoding occurring for unsupported audio. When the mkv is 30gb or greater, this transcoding temp folder chews up all my system drive space (32gb emmc), crashes emby, and Emby won't restart until I clear out all files in this folder. After restarting the server, the movie will play, and transcoding will go until it reaches end of the movie. As long as it doesn't chew up all the drive space, it'll play without any issues. A setting in the server settings would be nice so the transcoding queue doesn't do a storage runaway and chew up all the disk space would be nice. Sort of like what Microsoft sql server does with setting a max memory usage. Thank you.. PS: I do plan on getting a larger emmc (128gb) to prevent this from happening.

danlo315 6 Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Hi, yes we plan to improve this in the future. thanks. Hello - do you know if this is something that's higher on the priority list? I ran into that issue yesterday (couple of times overall now) - a couple of runaway transcodes filled up my /transcode-temp directory and killed my server. I'm running Emby via Docker so I might resort to some creative file system/volume mapping as interim solution so I don't crash the entire server. Does anyone have suggestions on how to go about it?

Hi there, please go over an example and attach the emby server log. Thanks.
danlo315 6 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Hi there, please go over an example and attach the emby server log. Thanks. Sorry for coming back so late; unfortunately the log has been cleaned out already, will update if this happens again.
danlo315 6 Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Has it happened again? Hi @@Luke unfortunately not. It's actually looking really good so far.
