transcoding to client on same machine as server

I have an Emby server running as a service on the same machine that I use as a v3.0.9 client to the v4.2.1.0 server.  Recently I noticed the server is transcoding to the client *on the same machine*!  When I configure the client to a particular server, I always delete the auto-detected server and put in "localhost" for the server, so it should not stream over the network.

This has worked in the past, but now the auto-detect streaming bandwidth is setting the client to 6Mbps and transcoding DTS-HD to AC3.  For comparison, I checked a client PC on a different physical machine on the same network, and it direct-plays from the same server over the local network.

Please advise, logs attached.

Is the media on the same machine, too?

it would appear there is a 7Mbps limit set somewhere.

Actually have you modified your network settings in Dashboard-Advanced?  Would appear your serverip is considered Remote.

Yes this is probably the answer.

Yes, local RAID array.

Thank you for the responses.  I have confirmed that when I activate a VPN to the internet the bandwidth limit is triggered.  When the VPN is disabled the local client direct plays from the server on the same PC.  I'm not sure where the 7Mbps is entered into the web interface, I have the internet maximum bitrate set to 20Mbps.

So I will look at my outside domain name, which I have been trying to get working with port 8920 security.  It would appear somehow the VPN is interfering with what should be a local route, "localhost".

Yes that sounds right.
