Scream69 0 Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 (edited) Well... First of all, I have properly tagged files. They are stored in folders based on genre. So when I want to play a certain mood, I launch the corresponding folder that has the singles inside. Emby recognizes the genres, but when i go inside this genre it only displays the FIRST song of the genre. If i play the genre, it plays all the songs. How can i browse by genre ? best Also, When i search by artist on the top (queen), it properly displays the artist. When I click on the artist, it doesn't display the artist songs but something else that doesn't seem to fit at all. Edited September 28, 2019 by Scream69
Luke 42089 Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Hi there, can you please go over the folder structure in more detail? Thanks.
Scream69 0 Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 Folder structure Music --Genre 1 ----Artist - Title.mp3 --Genre 2 ----Artist - Title.mp3 Artist, Genre, Title are also in the mp3 tags. Google Music reads them properly.
Luke 42089 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 The genre views are based on albums, not songs. Since you don't have album folders that's why this is happening. Currently Emby Server needs album folders in order for all features to be available. We plan to improve this in the future so that you can organize your files however you like, but we're not quite there yet. Thanks. 1
Scream69 0 Posted October 1, 2019 Author Posted October 1, 2019 But...but... why ?? why ? why is not genre = genre and folder = folder ? Sooo how should i organize/tag my music ?
d00zah 149 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 (edited) Check the Wiki: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Music-naming I've processed my collection w/ MB Picard, which has the configuration option to move music into this structure. Best done before the collection gets too large, but it makes Emby happy. Edited October 1, 2019 by d00zah
Scream69 0 Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 I don't want to move my music... The folder structure I am happy with... I listen to my music by mood, not artist. Is there a way to tag my mp3 files to reproduce the same effect without having to move the music ? best
d00zah 149 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) My experience has been that if you provide Emby the file structure it requires (WIKI), it can present the content the way you like to see it, et al. I often see people hung-up on sticking to a particular fiile structure, rather than let Emby handle the presentation. I wish I had more time for this, but life... Suggestion: - Structure a small subset of your collection (a copy, per WIKI) using Picard (easy). - Create a separate music library & import experimental collection. - Familiarize yourself with how Emby is able to display by Genre/Album/etc.. Once you understand how it works...???? YMMV Here's info on MB Picard, I posted a while ago. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/54520-music-album-artist-sorting-issue/page-2&do=findComment&comment=535881 Edited October 3, 2019 by d00zah
