rldev 1 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Perhaps I just don't understand what these do. Yesterday I setup Emby(w Premiere) on Win 10 machine and installed the apps on my Nvidia Shields and Firestick 4k devices. I selected Next Up and "Show Season Premieres" on my homescreens. They worked fine. Today none of my devices or web app shows these two items on my home screen. Maybe I don't understand what Next Up is and why it would stop working? Same goes for displaying Season Premieres. There are certainly Season Premieres today(Young Sheldon, The Unicorn). Continue Watching and Latest Media seem to consistently work. Many thanks.
ebr 16199 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Hi. Did you delete the items you watched? Our next up functionality depends on you having previously watched items for those series in your library.
speechles 2055 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) I think he expects "Season Premieres" to work like "Upcoming" as Young Sheldon airs tonight. It isn't even broadcast yet. ^_~ Edited September 26, 2019 by speechles
rldev 1 Posted September 26, 2019 Author Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) I guess I don't understand how these functions work. I assume Next Up would require multiple episodes of a show recorded? When I click on the recorded show(Only one show recorded as it is the Premiere), Next Up appears on the Show page, so why not on the homepage? Sorry I find it confusing. Speechles I suppose you're correct. So I'm assuming "Season Premieres" only shows when the shows have aired? Not really important. I was just wondering why it disappeared. Thanks. It shows what is in your collection. I do not believe it shows "virtual" which are missing or upcoming episodes in those views. Those are playable items in those views not placeholders. Virtual items are informational only. They cannot be played. Think of virtual items like placeholders that hold that spot until the actual playable item gets there. rldev 1 Posted September 26, 2019 Author Posted September 26, 2019 T that is not a big deal. hank you, that is very clear. I would argue that the value of having the place holder is so one has an easy option to record them. However, based on what you are saying, the widget should be displaying on the homepage. I have about 7 season premieres recorded that I have not watched yet. They were displaying last night and then they vanished.
speechles 2055 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) I would argue that the value of having the place holder is so one has an easy option to record them. Indeed it does work that way. They work to keep you aware of the "holes" in your collection. Some people don't care, but others do. Since it is, "Your media, Your way!", you have the option of using these or not. What you are indicating is you have these items in your collection and no longer do they show as premieres. This could be because today is the day they are to air. Effectively they are now no longer premieres. Since timezones and daylight savings can play havoc with airtime most of the data used to determine virtual episodes missing versus upcoming is simply the date. Once that date arrives they get forgotten and go from upcoming to missing. Edited September 26, 2019 by speechles
ebr 16199 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 They were displaying last night and then they vanished. The reason they showed last night is due to the way our next up feature works. Like I mentioned above, it keys off of series you have actually started watching - only showing the next episode available for shows you have watched episodes for. The one exception to that is when you have never watched anything and this was probably the case for you last night. When you have no watched episodes at all then Next Up will just show a selection of episode 1s in your library as a "get started" point. The Season Premiere row only exists in the Android TV/Fire TV app and it only shows new episode 1s that are in your next up list. The intention there is to bring to your attention that a new season has started for a show you probably haven't watched in a long time (and is thus way down the list in normal "next up"). Does that clear it up?
rldev 1 Posted September 26, 2019 Author Posted September 26, 2019 (edited) Yes seems clear, but that means I have a problem on the server side. Next Up shows up on the individual series pages. If there is only one recording, Next Up displays that recording just as you describe. It works how anyone would expect it to. That is not the problem. The problem is that It doesn't show up on the Home screen(Widget). Next Up and Season Premiere are enabled on 4 android devices. The widgets were there yesterday. Now they are not. I don't mean the heading are there with no data underneath. The entire widgets are not displaying, I have a bunch of unwatched season premiere shows that were recorded. Based on your description, Next Up and Season Premieres should be visible on my home screen. I don't see what has fundamentally changed from yesterday to today. Unless the widget puprposely works different than the function on the series page by design. I hope I'm not confusing you. Thanks. Edited September 26, 2019 by rldev
ebr 16199 Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 First, the answer to this question is key... Hi. Did you delete the items you watched?
