Rapid TV 0 Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Hi, Hoping I wont get shouted at for either posting in the wrong area or not reading through the forums but I need some help please. I used to use Emby about a year back and I had all my films broken down into folders like 70's 80's 90's etc and in each folder was a collection of films based on years. I am certain I remember seeing an All Movies section that showed everything grouped all together. Reason I ask is say I want to see Comedy Genre films under the Genre area I have to go into 90's for example and then click Genre and select Comedy but it only shows my Comedy Genre for that one area. How if possible do I see ALL Movies in one location or at least view all the Comedy Genre films from my ENTIRE library and not just one single library / folder I've added. Thanks in advance,
ebr 16184 Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Hi. We'd need to look at exactly how you setup your library but you would want to put all those folders (or just a single parent folder) as the location for your movie library and then the system will do what you want by default.
Rapid TV 0 Posted September 25, 2019 Author Posted September 25, 2019 Hi Thanks for the Reply. So for example if I understand you right at the moment I run Ubuntu server and I have the Following Directory..../home/Movies/90's MoviesThis is one directory I have added as a Library for 90's Movies and I also have other folders in here like 70's, 80's (/home/Movies/80's Movies) etc. and I am adding Library for each folder within the Movies directory. If I understand right you are saying I can add a Library to my Emby under /home/Movies and it would automatically add everything within this folder and breakdown the sub folders inside here to individual libraries?Or another way to ask is can I add all the folders individually as Libraries and then can I add a Library under /home/Movies and call it 'All Movies' and this would work or would it duplicate everything as effectively its got everything added twice. Thanks in advance
mastrmind11 722 Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 (edited) You can add all sub-folders as individual libraries, and then add all your libraries into a Collection called All Movies. Edited September 25, 2019 by mastrmind11
Rapid TV 0 Posted September 25, 2019 Author Posted September 25, 2019 Ah ok so that sounds good and I assume this is done on the main server and then applies to all pinned devices / users?I have a couple libraries added already, how do I go about adding a collection of these all together please. Appreciate the help
ebr 16184 Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 If it were me, I'd just create one "Movies" library pointing just at the one "Movies" folder (the parent of all those other folders). Then all your movies will be in one place. If you want to see your sub-folders, just use the "Folders" browsing option.
Rapid TV 0 Posted September 25, 2019 Author Posted September 25, 2019 I think on that basis I would have to agree, I will drop all my items in one folder and add that as a single library. Appreciate the help and you can close this thread if needed.
