Movies missing, but all files there

Okay, been using Emby since WAY back (great system, keep up the good work).  So I was trying to figure out why my movies were not auto-updating when new media was added and saw in the log that Emby couldn't see the network share - which I thought was odd since it's been on an unRAID share for years.  Anyway, I was thinking maybe it's a Windows 10 URL issue, so I change all the paths from '\\unraid\movies', shows, etc, to '\\192.168.xxx.xxx\moves'.  Bingo, all looks good in the log, but wait.... now I don't see any movies.  Other libraries are there; TV Series, Recorded TV, but no Moves.  Checked the unRAID share location and the movies are still there.  Tried scanning media, and rebooting server - no luck.

Log attached for luck.

Thanks all

If you type '\\192.168.166.23' in the windows search - do all the shares come up and are browseable/readable with the same account that Emby uses in windows ?

Have you done a full library scan ?

Ensure none of the libary UNC's overlap - for example - you can't have \\192.168.166.23\MyShare\Movies\ and \\192.168.166.23\MyShare\ as they will conflict because one is a subset of the other.

rbjtech - Thanks for the reply.

Yep, everything works in Windows search, no problems at all, and none of the shares overlap, they are all off the base \\192.168.166.23\.

I have tried a full library scan, no joy.

As a test, I renamed the library.db file and let it rebuild.  Looks like the only media library that's not being scanned is Movies for some reason.  I tried removing the Movies library and adding it again but still no data when scanned.  From the Emby server I can view the share location just fine.

To me that would suggest there is something within the /Movies folder Emby does not like.

If you made a new Movies folder, new Library and placed a couple items in it are they seen?

Hmm - very odd.

When you add the folder/share - if you also put the share in the optional field - do you instantly get a list of the folders within that share ?  (Note no trailing slash.. ie \\192.168.166.23\Movies not \\192.168.166.23\Movies\)

Happy2Play - I created a new share and moved a movie into it.  I then added the new share to my Movies library in Emby and that movie showed up instantly.  Very odd - I haven't modified the original share or added any new content before this began, just changed the share location in the library.

rbjtech - Since the locations are already on a local share available to all Emby clients, I've never added a Shared network folder entry, however I tried it, but no luck,

ok - well if the folders don't show when you use the UNC path in the Optional box then Emby is not going to see them.  I guess you'll need to move the folders to the new root share that works - should be instantaneous being a move rather than a copy.  All very odd though..

As mentioned there has to be something within your original Movies folder that Emby has issues with, if a new folder/Library is seen.  Are there any folders of files that begin with a "period"?

Okay, I moved all movies in alphabetical groups from one share to another and refreshed the library after each move.  I came across one group where the library wouldn't refresh, moved all those back to their original share and moved them 1 by 1 (thankfully there were only 24) until I found one that caused the library refresh to hang.  After I removed that one, the rest of the movies transferred over and the library refreshed.  The offending movie has been in the collection over 5 years, so I can only assume there was a corruption in the folder somewhere.  Anyway, back to having all movies available for now.

Thanks for the help and suggestions. It wasn't as easy as I'd hoped, but at least the're back and I've learned more about Emby
