nswilliams 1 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Hi, I am deaf myself and the Emby App is almost the choice for my needs. However, I tried many different free IPTV m3u links, there were never captions showing up in Emby web, iPad, or Apple TV apps. With the same m3u streams, it works in few other m3u players on iPad and Apple TV (their caption size is HUGE and is not adjustable). So, where are we for supporting closed captions (i.e. EIA-608) in streams? I use OSX for server. If not supported, I guess I ll try other platforms such as Plex. Sigh.
Luke 42077 Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Hi, while we do support subtitles, we still have a little work to do regarding closed captions. It's coming though.
nswilliams 1 Posted September 21, 2019 Author Posted September 21, 2019 (edited) Great. While you are at it, be sure to offer font size option ranging from extra small (needed for large 4k TVs) to large font. Few other m3U player apps, their font size is HUGE and is not adjustable. Also, make sure when it is turned on, it stays on all the time until manually off just like your Subtitle option in user setting. I hate to turn on captions on every channel change that many apps (including Youtube on Apple TV!) does. Looking forward to CC support soon! Edited September 21, 2019 by nswilliams
