DVR questions: Watch while recording? Guide sort?

I'm trying out Emby (with HDHomeRun prime tuner) as a replacement for Windows 7 Windows Media Center and have a couple of questions:

 

1) Is it possible to watch a show from the beginning while recording it? I can't seem to get that to work.

 

2) Is there a way to sort guide channels with the HDHomeRun favorite channels at the beginning?

 

I checked the  "Place favorite channels at the beginning" box in the guide box, but it didn't seem to work. I finally figured out that that feature is based on selecting favorite channels within Emby, not in the HDHomeRun web tool. The option to show only favorites, on the other hand, seems to be based on the HDHomeRun favorites.

1)  Yes, please describe exactly what problem you are having.

 

2) You need to mark the channels as Favorites in Emby.  Once you do that, they will sort to the top.

1) I got it to work. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong.

 

2) That's what I figured. Some way of marking favorites that isn't so tedious (say a checklist) would be nice. As it is, I have to click on a channel, mark it as a favorite, go back to the guide, and repeat.

Hi.  With the web app, bring up the "Channels" view.  Now, as you mouse over each one, a heart will become visible.  Click the ones you want.

I don't see a heart when I mouse over a channel, just when I click on it to open it.

With Chrome or Firefox in Windows 10, I don't see the heart when I mouse over the channel; but with Firefox in Linux Mint, I do see it.

I don't see it in Windows 10 Emby Theater either.

I see the fav Icon on Windows 10 with Chrome 77 (web app) on both Beta and Stable servers

I'm running Chrome on Windows 10 as well.

 

It is the web app though -  not Theater.

I don't see it in Windows 10 Emby Theater either.

 

If the display mode setting in the app is TV mode, then you will not see it. If your primary input method is a mouse, then I would switch it to desktop mode.
