No Photograhs Being Displayed

Hi,

I am running the Emby Server on the Nvidia Shield TV and I m completely stumped as to why none of my photos appear anywhere.

I have been used Plex for years and recently decided to try Emby.

My movies and home videos all appear with no problems but I cant see a single photo.

I've tried putting them in a mixed content library and a Home Videos and Photos library.

I feel I must be doing something fundamentally wrong

I'm really stuck and would appreciate any advice,

thanks in advance,

Anthony

Hi there, you should use the home videos and photos content type. How many Emby libraries have you setup, and using what folder paths?

Hi Luke, thank you for your reply.

My  photos are currently in a home videos and photos content folder. In that folder I have a mixture of videos and photos

Have you enabled photos on that library, it should be enabled by default though? Dashboard-Library-select your Home videos and photos

What type of photos (extension)?

Hi,

This is my current situation:

All my photos are JPG's

After following what I thought was the correct protocol for a mixed media library without success (The videos display fine but no photos) I decided to cover as many bases as possible in the hope that some pics would appear.

So..... I have a folder structure as follows:

Movies/

My Videos & Photos/

Person's Name/

Movies

Photos/Events

I also have

Photos/

Person's Name/Events

I have created a Home Videos and Photos Library, ticked the box to include Photos and pointed to library at Movies/My Videos & Photos and Photos/Person's Name

The folders for the photos are displayed to the "event" level but the folders are then empty

I hope that makes sense and that you can spot a glaring error I've made

many thanks,

Ant

What is the exact folder path(s) you setup your home video library with?

A server log would show us if you have a library path conflict.

Ant

If you Movies library point to Movies then there will be a conflict as no library can contain a sub-folder of another library.

Hi,

thanks for the help guys but this is getting ridiculous now.

I can't help thinking I must have a fundamental misunderstanding of the how file structuring works within Emby.

I have deconstructed the file structure to such an extent that I'm now at the point where I have the top level photos folder containing 3 photographs and a library that I've created that points only to the photos folder and still I've yet to see a single picture displayed.

I can't make the path any simpler so what the hell do I do now.

FWIW I've never had such a problem with Plex displaying photos even when embedded several folders deep.

I'm on the verge of giving up.

Maybe someone could give me a very simple example of how they are getting their photos to display using Emby so I can see if I've made a mistake (although as mentioned I've stripped it right down to the bare bones).

Thanks in advance

Ant

I can create a folder c:\photos (with multiple nested folder) and add that to Emby to a Home Videos and Photos library with photos enabled on the library and they appear in Emby.  Beyond those steps it is hard to say.  You will need to provide a server log of you doing the same.

But ideally you may need to go over all your library folders.

Hi,

Carlo, I have responded to your message, thank  you.

I have conducted further experiments with the following results:

As mentioned I have an Emby server on my Nvidia Shield TV which steadfastly refuses to display any of my photos despite me trying several different methods culminating in me simply creating a "Home Videos and Photos" library (and ticking the box allowing photos to be displayed) pointing at a top level folder named "Photos" containing a folder named "Adam" which contained 3 photographs.

On the home screen I can see the library named Photos. This is the path to the library - /storage/4A16F00B16EFF5BB/Android/data/com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb/Photos

Once entered I can see the folder named "Adam".  /storage/4A16F00B16EFF5BB/Android/data/com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb/Photos/Adam

However when I enter the folder named "Adam" it appears empty.

Having come to the conclusion that I can do no more on the Nvidia Shield server I decided to create another Emby server on my laptop, I created the "Photos"/"Adam"/3 pics exactly as before (on my C Drive).

I then created the library as before

BINGO! It worked exactly as it should.

So, my conclusion is that it's nothing I'm doing wrong regarding the creation of folders and the library.

It must be an Nvidia Shield thing.

Any ideas?

cheers,

Ant

Is that a private folder owned by another app? Emby Server may just not have permissions for it.

A Server log may lead us in the right direction as it could be the libraries themselves or permissions.
