jluce50 122 Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Even though it looks like you should be able to use IMDB with music videos, it doesn't seem to work for me. If I set the media type to Movies for my music videos, everything is correctly identified. The problem with this is that Kodi is unable to separate movies by library, so my Movies library is littered with music videos. If I set the media type to Music Videos, not a single video is correctly identified. I can't even manually identify the videos using the IMDB id (IMVDB is pretty much useless as far as I can tell). Is this a bug or am I not understanding the intended behavior? Movies library: Music Videos library:
Happy2Play 9785 Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 (edited) IMDB will never by used (api is not free). That IMDB id can be used to search existing provider sites by that id. I will have to look but there are similar topics out there for issues with Music Videos. Some discussion here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/76724-music-video-poster-display/?hl=%2Bmusic+%2Bvideo Edited September 13, 2019 by Happy2Play
ebr 16199 Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 "Never" is a really long time but, no, we don't have access to IMDb at this time (nor plans in the immediate future). For what they charge, the incremental improvement just doesn't make sense.

Okay, that's fair enough. I guess my point is that metadata gathering seems completely broken for Music Videos (at least for the type of media I have in my collection), but it works great when that same collection is designated as Movies. That would be fine, except that the tradeoff is that my movie library in Kodi is littered with music videos (the most annoying for me is that the Continue Watching list is dominated by partially watched music videos, but I digress). Both options have very significant drawbacks for me. Bottom line: Am I missing something in how I'm trying to set this up with the current functionality? If not, are there plans to improve this functionality or do I just need to resign myself to choosing the lesser of two evils?
Luke 42086 Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 Make sure to explore the metadata provider settings for your library.
jluce50 122 Posted September 14, 2019 Author Posted September 14, 2019 Make sure to explore the metadata provider settings for your library. I have IMVDB and TheMovieDB enabled for Music Videos. Is there anything else I can do here? The Movies library has TheMovieDB and The Open Movie Database enabled. Is The Open Movie Database the reason the videos are correctly identified when the library type is Movies? If so, is there a way to add it as a metadata source for Music Videos?
Luke 42086 Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Have you tried using the identify feature?
jluce50 122 Posted September 16, 2019 Author Posted September 16, 2019 Have you tried using the identify feature? Yes. I've tried searching a number a titles by name, IMDB id, and TheMovieDb id and I get no results.
