Premiere 25 device limit?

Can anyone please explain how the 25 device limit works for the Premiere?

As I understand from this: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Is-there-a-limit-to-Emby-Premiere it's not 25 simultaneous devices, but rather rather once a divice have connected to the server it will stay in the device list fo a period of time, and it's not possible to manually "knock" a device from the list, correct?

The githup bage says the devices says "The system tracks device usage for about a week", but how does one know if a device is still tied to the server or not? On my current Free server  I see devices on the devices list dating two months back?

Hi.  The understanding you stated above is correct.

The device list you see in your server is not the list of devices being tracked for the limit because that list of devices is only for that one server.  The Premiere devices are tracked by key regardless of server so you cannot see all of those from a single server.

The reason you cannot see this list is covered in that same document:

The main reason we do not provide a way to do this at this time is security and privacy. To allow your server to see this exact information would require us to expose a public API that provides this information. Since we do not require you to have an account with us in order to use Premiere, there is no way for us to secure this API in a way that we are comfortable enough with to expose it. We are working on ways we may be able to do this in the future.

Please let us know if you still have questions.

Thanks.

Ok, I think I understand.

But how does it work if the 25 devices limit is reached, I mean it's not that easy to know how many devices each user is using?

For instance if I'm not using any of my devices for a while and the system loose track of them, and another user has filled up with devices to the limit, then I can't connect to my own server?

Hi.  You can connect to your server.  The device limit only governs Premiere features.

The dashboard will tell you if you are close to or over the limit.  The system is designed for personal home use with family and maybe a few friends.  The assumption is you have some degree of control over these people such that they aren't giving out their credentials and have tons of people you don't know and can talk to using them.

Seems more and more questions and feature requests appear to be from folks running (or attempting to run) "commercial" Emby servers.  This reminder is nice, as this is one reason why I selected Emby personally.
