JMR 4 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 The library will not add movies to folder that is older only on new folders i have several hard drives when i add a movie to an older hard drive the program wont see it i can hit scan library and still not add movie but if i move the movie to a newer hard drive then the program sees it right away. I see the movies in the old hard drive and play them but wont see new ones to add
ebr 16176 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Hi. Can we please look at specifics for an example? Screen shots, log, etc. Thanks. How to Report a Problem
JMR 4 Posted September 10, 2019 Author Posted September 10, 2019 heres the log file from today i added Into the Ashes to drive h but it would not add it moved the movie to drive x and added movie right away embyserver.txt
mastrmind11 722 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 heres the log file from today i added Into the Ashes to drive h but it would not add it moved the movie to drive x and added movie right away Your permissions are likely screwed up. System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'Q:\Thor The Dark World'.
ebr 16176 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Hi. I see some permissions problems so you need to check those. file:X:\Into The Ashes\Into.the.Ashes.2019.1080p.BluRay.REMUX.AVC.DTS-HD.MA5.1-iFT.mkv: Permission denied But, also, are those local drives or mapped network drives? If mapped network drives, I suggest using UNC paths instead. Much more reliable. If they are local, it is typically a good idea to not use the root of the drive because the system may put things in there that cause problems. Thanks.

Luke 42078 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 @@JMR have you checked into what ebr suggested?
JMR 4 Posted September 10, 2019 Author Posted September 10, 2019 I have know idea what he is taking about i set up and then added the network map which did help load faster but then this started all permission are the same for all drives i thought maybe the hars drives where hibernating but even if i hit scan library will not add movie
Luke 42078 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Hi, what do you mean by added the network map?
ebr 16176 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Shared networked folder \\Mainpc\d Is that on a machine other than the server machine or did you just add in the "Optional Network Path"?
Solution ebr 16176 Posted September 11, 2019 Solution Posted September 11, 2019 It is on the server machine Okay. When I mentioned using UNC paths that was only if the drives were not local to the server machine. IOW - mapped network drives are bad and shouldn't be used but that is not relevant in your setup. Still, I do recommend moving your media off of the root of those drives. Just create a folder called "Movies" or whatever and point to that. Also, the permission issues are something at the system level and will need to be addressed (and are likely the crux of your problem here).
JMR 4 Posted September 11, 2019 Author Posted September 11, 2019 All hard drives have same permissions total control
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 That does not matter. The root of the drive has hidden system folders that can and have affected users libraries. 1
Luke 42078 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 If these are mapped network drives, then i would remove the mapped drives from Emby library setup and add the original network paths instead.
JMR 4 Posted September 13, 2019 Author Posted September 13, 2019 Moved them into a folder and that worked thanks for the help
