Great news!

I saw this topic and checked my server, it didn't say there was a new version. I ran the 'Check for application updates' task manually and still no mention of a new version. I logged on to my server, stopped and started the service and now the update message appeared. Did a manual update and it installed without a glitch.

So it seems there is no heads-up for a new version anymore when running as a service.

Still having the same issue with path substitution not occurring on 3.0.5267.16902

 

It does work if I use explicit paths substituting D:\Data\Movies with \\myserver.mydomain.local\movies. I've got all media beneath D:\Data and have always been successful substituting D:\Data with \\myserver.mydomain.local since all folders in D:\Data are the same as the defined UNC sharename. Would be sweet if it continued to work that way, but I can define all entrypoints and get it to work with full UNC paths for now.

Yea, but most people don't know why they can't get the update.

 

Average user:

1. Sees announcement/post about new version
2. Awesome! This is going to be the best version of MB3 ever. Let me get it now.
3. Checks the dashboard - No update available
4. Clicks "check for update" - No update available
5. Comes onto the forum or posts that they can't get the update and there may be a problem

Without explaining to people (especially those new to MB3) we are going to see posts like this every time anything is updated.

 

Either the end user experience needs to be more inline with the announcement or EVERY announcement should mention at the bottom that it ay take 24 hours to rollout the update and to please wait.

Hopefully everyone will get on board with that. Not sure if plugins are effected but I would imagine that at least MBC is so if Ebr can put some text at the bottom of his announcements that would be good to.

There certainly is. You just need to wait a little longer.

I really think now that the files are on a CDN and there is a delay based on when it becomes available to people in different places that with each release a little disclaimer should be on the bottom saying something like "update will be rolling out over the next 24 hours".

 

Otherwise, in the CDN systems I have used you can tell it to immediately update the CDN servers (although in my experience that command is sometimes ignored), but maybe that would allow it to show up for people more in sync with the announcements.

Thanks to those who are running beta and helping test, an update has gone out with the following fixes:

 

- Path substitution

- HLS Streaming (fix mostly targets Roku but will benefit all)

- Live Tv streaming

- Trailer image not sticking after restart

- Other smaller bug fixes

- New channel settings page in the dashboard

 

Also Snazy has introduced a couple more channel plugins. Enjoy.

There are systems in place that in the server that won't download for find them straight away so that the server doesn't get hammered and crash becuase of the amount of users
