If I filter the TV shows by "state", those that have been "canceled" (according to "themoviedb.org") appear as "continuing." I think they should appear as "finished."

How about an example, and I don't believe that status comes from TMDB (as a series I just checked is has wrong status in TMDB as they have it as a Returning Series even thought it has ended), it comes from TVDB as far as I am know.

As for status there are only 2, continuing or ended.

Canceled: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/4482-bewitched

Ended: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/4658-alf

When i filter, this two shows appear in different groups

So that would suggest that the series metadata (outdated information) does not reflect what the provider site  has then as they are both "Ended" series.  Does Refreshing the series update the wrong metadata?  What series providers do you have enabled?  What provider order?

https://www.thetvdb.com/series/alf

Luke would have to verify but I don't know if Emby uses both sites Status as my example "Instinct" would have conflicting status results.

Internally we only have two states, continuing or ended. Ended could be for any reason.

1. themoviedb.org

2. thetvdb.com

Does Refreshing the series update the wrong metadata?

No, the metadata is acording with the providers database.

themoviedb.org.Ended ==> EMBY ended

themoviedb.org Other case (Canceled, Returning, etc..) ==> EMBY continuing

"Canceled" status in themoviedb must be "ended" in EMBY
