davezter 0 Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 (edited) 1) What is "HTML Video Player" ? Is this just a generic term for any web browser's built in player? 2) *How do I watch live from another local computer without having to transcode? *When I log in to the server using another computer by going to the local IP address, I can stream live TV through a web browser, but it transcodes everything. Stats for nerds says the player is "HTML Video Player" and the reason for transcode is "Container not supported". I'm using a Quadro P2000 nVidia card on the client computer and have turned off the iGPU Intel Graphics through the BIOS. I also have the nVidia set up to do all graphics processing on its own. Thank you! Edited September 1, 2019 by davezter
Luke 42079 Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Is this just a generic term for any web browser's built in player? Hi, yes exactly.
Luke 42079 Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 How do I watch live from another local computer without having to transcode? Hi, you'll need to use an Emby app that supports the content without transcoding. You might like trying Emby Theater for Windows for example: https://emby.media/emby-theater.html
davezter 0 Posted September 1, 2019 Author Posted September 1, 2019 Thank you Luke. Just curious, do you think it would direct-play inside a browser if I was using the intel iGPU on the i7-8700k instead of feeding everything to the nVidia?
Luke 42079 Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 No, browsers don't support the source format, that's why it is transcoding. Changing the video card won't change that.
