bizarro252 17 Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 (edited) Hello! Yesterday we were watching LiveTV but today we have not used LiveTV at all. I noticed this morning before work the tuner was still feeding data to the server and restarted the HDHomeRun and it stopped. I see in the logs a few hours later ~10am the server hit the HDHomeRun again and started streaming to the server. I noticed this again this evening and again restarted the HDHomeRun at about 8pm, and it stopped all activity for an hour or so but then again started streaming to the server. I have attached the Emby log as well as what the HDHomeRun log says (its not much but...hey why not). I will now try restarting the server and the HDHomeRun and see if that fixes it from re-starting itself again. But this is weird, wondering if you would please take a look? For reference within the logs, the HDHomeRun is at 172.16.0.10 Thanks! tuner.txt Edited August 31, 2019 by bizarro252
Luke 42077 Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 Are you sure you actually exited and didn't just leave it playing? Were you playing on Roku? Because the roku app is reporting progress all throughout this log. Looks like it was still playing.
bizarro252 17 Posted August 31, 2019 Author Posted August 31, 2019 (edited) Hi Luke, Yes I was playing on the Roku yesterday (liveTV) and yes we were watching the Roku today, but all that was content from my local library. We are careful to back out to the home screen before shutting off the TV. I do not see the TV/stream showing as active in the admin console when I go in there. Perhaps the tv was not exited back out of live tv properly, but wouldn't that show in the admin panel as an active device? That's where I am confused as I don't see it active but it still grabs the tuner from the HDHomeRun. I did a restart of the server and left the HDHomeRun alone and it stopped the tuner and that was about 2 hours ago, so far still has not come back on. Edited August 31, 2019 by bizarro252
bizarro252 17 Posted September 1, 2019 Author Posted September 1, 2019 (edited) Hi Luke, I am going to close this for now, I can't get it to reproduce after a restart of the server. Weird that the admin GUI doesn't show any active devices while still calling for a stream and turning on the tuner - but perhaps something just got stuck that the restart fixed. I will open it back up if it reproduces, thanks! @@Luke Welp, it did it again so never mind on closing it Attaching the log - and below (since its short) pasting the log from the HDHomeRun, I power cycled it after we stopped watching TV and continued to use Emby to watch local content. Looks like it waits about 2 hours before the tuners both kicked back on again to stream to the server, we did not go back into LiveTV during this time. I do not have remote users, only local so I can say for sure no one requested the tuners/live tv to start back up streaming. This is also an issue because if I go back into LiveTV it will not allow me to tune to any channel besides the two already active because those tuners are locked up and will not release, it thinks those channels are still being watched. If I tune to either of those channels the tuners are on it will work, others error because it cant swap to a new stream. Currently the only way that seems to work to stop the tuners streaming (and being locked up to those streams) is to restart the emby server. Restarting the HDHomerun only clears the problem but only for a few hours before they both get turned back on again for some reason. bizarro252 17 Posted September 1, 2019 Author Posted September 1, 2019 Also, I think I figured out why it seems intermittent... It will not lock up or re-start the tuners if I view live tv normally, however if I use 'playback correction' to force transcoding (which on some channels is required to have uninterrupted playback) it will have this behavior until a server restart.
