Hi,

I'm looking to hide some TV shows from some users but then I remembered you can't add a show with it's own folder eg TV Shows/Doctors because Emby uses the next folder level as the shows name which would be "Season XX".

So, how can I add shows independently to a library so that I can select what a user does and doesn't have access to?

Thanks

It would require folders.

x:\TV Shows

     \Resticted

          \show1

          \show2

     \Group

           show3

           show4

Create library TV Shows with folders Resticted and Group

Create user with access to all folder to see all TV Shows

Create user with access to Restrict or Groups to limit available shows

So Library assigned folders would restict what the user sees by removing access to specific folder.

Right... I thought as much. That's a very messy way of doing it, especially if you have different requirements of what to show for more then two users.

Could this maybe be an option added to Emby's UI?

Thanks

Another way would be applying TAGS (Parental controls) to the media and restrict or allow a access by TAGS for the user.

John allows to see everything tagged John

or

John restricted from everything that is tagged No.  Restricting requires less tagging.

I tested this option but it actually displays the tags when you go to the show, I'm assuming there's no way to hide them?

Thanks

Instead of tags you can also use parental controls, which is not the same as tags.

As an example, my kids have their own user setup and can access all my libraries but can only see content rated G.
