Metadata Manager -- "Original Aspect Ratio" field missing

Is the "original aspect ratio" field no longer supported in the metadata manager?

When I edit metadata, the field no longer appears.  I believe it used to be immediately

about the "3D format" field.

Hi, we removed it because it was dead information. It was not being used by any emby app, not even being displayed anywhere. The only place you could ever see it was in the metadata editor. Given that it was not serving any purpose, that's why it was taken out.

That is a bit disappointing.  I use the Kodi plugin and it was definitely making use of the original aspect ratio information.  Of course, the aspect ratio of the video stream does not always match the original aspect ratio of the movie.  Some movies tend to have top/bottom black bars encoded directly into the video stream.

With this change, Kodi now displays incorrect aspect ratios for many movies.  For example, I have many 2.35:1 movies that are encoded into 16:9 video files.  Kodi used to display the aspect ratio metadata as 2.35:1 (I presume it used the original aspect ratio field).  Now, Kodi incorrectly displays the aspect ratio for these movies as 16:9.

I love emby and respect your decision to remove this field.  However, I do think this is a step backwards.  Instead of removing the field, maybe you could have incorporated it into the emby apps so they could display the true aspect ratio of the movie and not just that of the video file.

Are you sure this is the reason? Because I see no references in the code for the Kodi addon using that field.

I have not yet dug into the code.  However, I did watch the aspect ratio metadata field on Kodi change from 2.35:1 to 16:9.  When I noticed the field was no longer available in the metadata manager, I fired up Kodi and fields changed from 2.35:1 to 16:9 during the database update that Kodi runs at startup.  Of course, this could be purely coincidental, but it seems unlikely.
