Robert X. Gonzalez 4 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I have noticed that the 1963 and 1955 Outer limits series are not formally separated when recorded. I have the entire 1963 series recorded and find that the 1995 series is recorded into the 1963 series as seasons 3-7 (1963 had only 2 seasons) I have been trying to root out the issue but all I can do is manually remove the 1995 from the 1963 folder and into the 1995 folder. I saw the same thing with BattleStar Galactica.with the 1978, 1983 and 2003 versions copied together and have to manually move. If there is no other version, then the correct folder is used, but after that an older version or new version of the series is copied into an existing Outer Limits etc. Something is not being detected correctly and it seems only the words are detected but not the year version. Hope this makes sense. Any ideas?
ebr 16187 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Hi. Are you sure the guide data is specifying the production year for the series?
BillOatman 596 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I had something similar for the series "The Office". Emby selected the UK series when I had the US. Going into the metadata and specifying US solved my problem right away. Like EBR suggests, if you specify the correct year in the metadata I suspect it will work.
speechles 2055 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 (edited) Sometimes you need to use: Name of Show ( US ) Name of Show ( UK ) Name of Show ( 1963 ) Name of Show ( 1955 ) When you see the show crosses the big pond you need to sometimes use the region in parenthesis instead of the year in your folder name. This is the preference order above. When region can affect use region before year. I also always put: Name of Show ( Blah ) vs Name of Movie (Blah) Tv shows always have spaces in their parenthesis as a reminder to me when a movie name and year might be identical to a tv show name and year. Shipping Wars ( UK ) Shipping Wars ( US ) Highway Patrol ( AU ) Works perfectly. ^_~ Edited August 28, 2019 by speechles
Luke 42083 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Hi there, how have you named your files and folders?
ebr 16187 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Hi there, how have you named your files and folders? These are recordings so he doesn't get to name them, it depends on the guide data, correct?
Robert X. Gonzalez 4 Posted August 28, 2019 Author Posted August 28, 2019 Hi all, Many interesting comments. Folders were all created by Emby and guide data does not show years, BUT correctly shows the picture of the show (fol lack of correct verbiage) yet, a 1995 version will typically go to the 1963 folders. I looked at the Meta data but do not see how to change as suggested. Appreciate any help and thanks to all who have jumped into assist. Robert
Luke 42083 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 At the time of the recording the guide data must not have contained the series year and that's why this happened. Then it got scanned into your library and possibly got the wrong data from tvdb. My suggestion would be to manually merge the files from those two folders together, then run a library scan.
