safetyguy14 1 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 (edited) I have consistent issues with significant stuttering and freezing when transcoding on my DS218+. I've tried various permutations of transcoding settings, I have all subtitles turned off and I know my CPU supports hardware transcoding (it works great in Plex...); however, no matter what I do I get terrible transcode performance unless I restrict the client to like 3Mb/s 720p. My DS218+ CPU is constantly pegged at 100% usage while it's transcoding. embyserver.txt.txt ffmpeg-transcode-2cf63115-5fbb-45b4-914b-2349f6fc556e_1.txt Edited August 26, 2019 by safetyguy14 1

safetyguy14 1 Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 Well I went with the nuclear method of adding the embyserv user to the admin group and it seems to be able to access hw transcoding now.
rouq 23 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Make sure that embysvr user is part of the video group.
Luke 42077 Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 Did you follow our hardware acceleration setup guide? https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Hardware-Acceleration-Overview
safetyguy14 1 Posted August 26, 2019 Author Posted August 26, 2019 Did you follow our hardware acceleration setup guide? https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Hardware-Acceleration-Overview Maybe I'm missing something, but the way I read that guide says essentially that I don't need to do anything beyond installing the server?: Required Setup Steps IntelThe latest Intel drivers are included with Emby server.
