Duplicate/Empty Artist

In my music collection, when I select Artist view, the Artist "Mase" appears twice.

 

They both have a different MusicBrainz ID.  One of them is the correct artist and the other is incorrect (I don't even have said artist in my collection of Music).  The incorrect MusicBrainz ID has no content associated with it. 

 

How can I remove this "empty" artist from my database.  If I try to delete it nothing happens.  If i look in the metadata manager the artist "Mase" only appears once.

Hi, it means that artist is assigned to something that isn't displayed on that screen. It could be individual tracks as we don't show tracks on the artist screen.

 

Can you use the metadata editor and go through all of the songs for that artist? Check if any of them have the wrong artist musicbrainz id assigned. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

I removed my entire music library and re-added it.  Now when I click on the incorrect "Mase" artist, there is an "Appears On" entry for the album "Life After Death" by "Notorious B.I.G".  The song including Mase is "Mo Money, Mo Problems".  In MusicBrainz Picard the three MusicBrainz artist IDs for the song are:

 

d5d97b2b-b83b-4976-814a-056d9076c8c3/76716b81-e361-427e-a931-19373388387d/cabb4fcf-4067-4ba5-908d-76ee66fcf0c6

 

The MusicBrainz ID for the correct artist "Mase" is 76716b81-e361-427e-a931-19373388387d (as seen in the list above). However, the value in Emby for "Mase" that links to the song is

 

d9f9a722-362e-4be6-8748-00cd9454cb15

 

My other "Mase" artist folder has the correct MusicBrainz ID.

 

Any ideas?

Ok.  After a rescan the incorrect "Mase" artist now has no content when I click on it.  The "Appears On" entry mentioned above now appears under the correct "Mase" artist entry.  However, the incorrect "Mase" artist still appears int he artist view, even though when I click on it there is no content listed.  See below

Hi, my answer is still the same as before. Did you do that?

 

If I had to guess, you have an album nfo file containing the other music brainz id.
