Nekrospider 0 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Good Mornin, I've got a few android boxes kicking around the house, and decided that my main was trash, so I upgraded to a T95Q S905x2 4G ram. It's sitting on Android 8.1 with most likely no updates, other than custom roms. I can login fine, but the second I hit next after throwing in the pin, I go instantly to a black screen. I don't think it's an android version issue, due to having boxes working on 8.1 right now. Could be something in the new box firmware messing it up, but I can't be 100%. Has anyone seen this on those generic boxes? Lemme know, Thanks
ebr 16184 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Hi. Most likely the Android implementation is missing something the app depends on. Does it work if you log in manually?

Sammy 790 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Is this an AndroidTV or basic Android os? Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk
Nekrospider 0 Posted August 23, 2019 Author Posted August 23, 2019 Is this an AndroidTV or basic Android os? Sent from my SM-G960U1 using Tapatalk Basic Android os. Other boxes are too, which kind of has me vexed. Something is missing, and I can't pin it down.
Sammy 790 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 I'd suggest getting an AndroidTV box. The mobile OS is different and is missing things. Try installing the mobile Emby App on the box you have.

Id love to figure out what's missing so I can just throw it in. Lol
Luke 42078 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Why is the mobile app weird to navigate? You mean weird trying to use it on a TV device?
Nekrospider 0 Posted August 23, 2019 Author Posted August 23, 2019 Why is the mobile app weird to navigate? You mean weird trying to use it on a TV device? Yeah, just a bit odd on a tv device. The arrow keys seem a bit off and it snaps back to wherever the mouse was last occasionally.
Luke 42078 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 It's our mobile app. We're not actively testing it on TV devices at this time.
Sammy 790 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 This is why I suggest getting a legitimate AndroidTV box for use on a TV with a remote or even a keyboard. These knock-off boxes are not worth it because of these issues and it cannot be expected for the developers of software to support usage outside the intended purpose.
Nekrospider 0 Posted August 23, 2019 Author Posted August 23, 2019 It's our mobile app. We're not actively testing it on TV devices at this time.Absolutely. Mobile apps are always finnicky on tv devices. Always. Lol
clarkss12 304 Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 (edited) People on here are probably getting tired of me saying this, but grab a cheap microSD card and install CoreELEC on it, IF you can't find a modded Android TV OS for your device. Install CoreELEC then download and install Sualfred's fredsrepo, then install Angelblue05's Emby for Kodi addon. This is a great solution for your device, and the stock remote "should" work. It does NOT affect your existing Android, and you can dual boot......... It uses your Emby server's data, same as an Emby client on your Android box. Edit: Here is a Freaktab link that has links for an ATV firmware mod for your device. This way, you can use the Emby for Android TV, and it works quite well........... https://forum.freaktab.com/forum/main-category/new-product-reviews/freaktab-user-reviews/758039-sunvell-t95q-tv-box-review-with-android-9-preview Edited August 23, 2019 by clarkss12
