rliepins 9 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Hi all I made the switch to an Nvidia Shield last holiday season. Things are working ok (except for that darn 8.0 update). I do have questions about the interface. I have asked about this in a previous thread a while back but they have not been addressed: - When displaying the guide, there is no way to select the channel itself to display just programs for that channel. Can that be addressed? - When viewing a movie info in the guide, I cannot see the date of the movie. Can that be added? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 - When viewing a movie info in the guide, I cannot see the date of the movie. Can that be added? Hi there, how does the web app compare?
rliepins 9 Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 The web app does do both displaying a channels lineup when selected as well as provide the release date in the info of a movie. I'd love that same functionality for the shield.
Luke 42077 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Thanks for the feedback. We'll make them consistent.
rliepins 9 Posted August 28, 2019 Author Posted August 28, 2019 Just a bit of clarification regarding the date of movies - The date does show when viewing within the guide. Where it doesn't show is when actually viewing the show and then toggling the info for the show. The web version shows the date while watching (and info is called), but not on the shield. Thanks for all the hard work.
rliepins 9 Posted September 27, 2019 Author Posted September 27, 2019 Hi Has there been any progress on updating the Shield/Android TV client to support the date issue and viewing a single channels lineup? As per my previous post: - When displaying the guide, there is no way to select the channel itself to display just programs for that channel. Can that be addressed? - When viewing a movie info in the guide, I cannot see the date of the movie. Can that be added? Also, I miss the old WMC days when we can bring up a mini guide in the foreground while a program is still being watched. Its like old school TV box days. Thanks again

This is already in the current beta of the app. It should release fairly soon. - When displaying the guide, there is no way to select the channel itself to display just programs for that channel. Can that be addressed? This will be coming but you can see the entire lineup there in the guide view - correct? This is already possible in the app when watching either live TV or an in-progress recording.

I'm no the beta now, I'll check it out tonight I can indeed see the entire lineup, correct. I am not sure how to actually initiate bringing the guide up while continuing to watch a program. All I can do is hit the arrow to go back to the guide and playback ceases at that time. Is there a remote button or special key that brings up an overlayed guide perhaps?

There are a couple of way to do this. If you hit the "down" arrow, you should get an on-screen display with several buttons. Check those out. Also, if your remote has either a "Menu" or a "guide" button, that will do it as well.
