maxone72 0 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Can I use my Hauppauge Colossus 2 capture card with emby without using nextpvr? Thanks.
denz 501 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I highly doubt it because that is not a tv tuner it is a capture card. I am surprised nextpvr support it.

That not true you can used it as long you set it up first in WinTV even IR Blaster work to in Emby soon as you chose Hauppauge as tuner it display. Personally NextPVR setup as M3U tuner is better way to go look at this https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/69226-recording-episode-or-series-in-specific-nextpvr-folder/
denz 501 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 what would you use it for since you will have no guide info ?
maxone72 0 Posted August 21, 2019 Author Posted August 21, 2019 I have answered my own question, SHSPVR is correct nextpvr works good. Also denz i do get tv guide info it even picks up my custom channel logos. you just need to set up the guide. thanks.
SHSPVR 123 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 what would you use it for since you will have no guide info ? Many people still have reg Satellite Dish, DirecTV, Sky or some other paid service like that and not everyone has access to FTA Satellite and Motorized Dish and if they do it not worth it for a few channel as majority of the channels are in other languages other than English or if your on reg Cable set-top boxes as HDHomeRun Prime can't record a lot of channel because of Copy Control Information that if that channel has 0x01 enable You used the Emby own guide data info with WinTV or M3U All other Tuner Plug-in like NextPVR Plug-in it pull the guide data info from NextPVR it self or what ever app your using and it can be unreliable 1
sub3 64 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I highly doubt it because that is not a tv tuner it is a capture card. I am surprised nextpvr support it. Yes, NextPVR supports it. Think of users that record via HDMI from a set top box. For example, in your part of the world it might be someone hooked up to a Foxtel box, or maybe Sky box in New Zealand. what would you use it for since you will have no guide info ? You'd import a set of channels that are available via the set top box, and the guide data for these channels. They'd appear in the TV guide just like any other channels. When the user selects to watch/record a channel, it uses a blaster to tell the set top box to change to the requested channel. 2
maxone72 0 Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 I have setup with getting the channel listing from using a web browser and saving them as text, then I use that as my device and select my tv guide. How come this works even without the nextpvr installed? Can I use this with out having nextpvr installed on and just use WinTV? Also is there any way of using IP control to change my TiVo box instead of using ir blaster? Thanks.
