thewallace 6 Posted August 19, 2019 Posted August 19, 2019 I'm running Windows 10 1903, ET 3.0.8 and Server 4.2.1.0 and using Powerdvd 18 as an external player. Its been fine for months but Powerdvd just started refusing to play throwing the attached error. I've reinstalled ET and Powerdvd with no change...and the player path opens Powerdvd on the command line. Anyone seen this before? I'm using the code below. C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDVD18\PDVDLP.exe {path}
Luke 42078 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 As a test, have you tried a different player, such as vlc for example?
thewallace 6 Posted August 20, 2019 Author Posted August 20, 2019 VLC does open as an external player in ET but cant find a codec to play MP4s, but thats a different issue of course.If I knew why ET generates the error and what its trying to do it might point to the reason its throwing this error. What is ET doing when it makes the call to open the external player?
Luke 42078 Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 It's not doing anything. That error just means the external player application exited with an error code. Obviously we need to improve the message but I don't think it's a problem in theater.
thewallace 6 Posted August 20, 2019 Author Posted August 20, 2019 I think you're right that its not ET. Microsoft's Tues patch from last week caused some scripting issues with an important app at my work. I wouldn't be surprised if its related.
Guest asrequested Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I tried mpv and VLC as external players and both worked without issue.
Luke 42078 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 This user is able to get power dvd working apparently: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/76758-внешний-плеер
