Do Any Clients Support Automatic Logging Off / Timeout?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Firstly, sorry if this is not the correct place to ask this but I am trying to reach out to users of all clients

We have a large age range of kids in our house and absolutely must have parental control so must have a client in the main living area that supports automatic logging off / time-out of some kind.

The main TV is a latest LG but the app does not support this.

Tried Emby with Kodi / Embycon - no auto logoff / timeout in here?

Emby Theater, have tried on a raspberry Pi 4 & Windows NUC but not possible there either.

Tried an Android Box, again nothing there.

I know this is on @@Luke road map but I am trying to see if anyone has a workable solution for now until he can make it happen as everyone is restricted to their own devices until I can find a way.

I am sure I must be missing something as there must be a large amount of users that don't want their kids to accidentally access age restricted media?

Many Thanks

Kodi and EmbyCon can auto prompt for user on screen saver deactivation.

Hi,

I have spent hours trying to find a way for embycon to do this? how does it work? I cannot find a way to access any screensaver setting in emycon?

Thank you

I would prefer to have one kodi user and just access all the emby users through embycon

The option to trigger user selection on screen saver deactivation is in the EmbyCon settings under Events or Services

Hi,

So sorry about this, I have been through all settings and the closest to that I can find is "Stop media playback on screensaver activation" I cannot find anything on user selection?

the option directly below that one "Show change user dialog"

Got it! Thank you! I had it enabled but was looking for different wording without realizing it was under the Screensaver section.

All working great!

Thank you!

Android TV and Roku have some options that may help with this.

Hi Luke,

Thanks for this, I have Android Tablets, Phones and a MBox but cannot find anything, can you provide any more info?  Also if anyone can confirm this is possible for sure on a Roku I may buy a new 4K Version.

Thank you

The mobile apps only have a remember me option but more options are planned for the future. Thanks.

The Roku also only has "remember me" and does not have a timeout to lock users out if you forget to exit the app or log out of the app. I suspect this is what you are after. A pin screen lock-out after idle-activity-timeout is exceeded or an auto-logout after the idle-activity-timeout is exceeded are both presently missing in the Roku app. You must disable remember me or remember to "sign out".

Many thanks for the replies guys, so until this option is added it looks like my only option for the shared TV's downstairs will be Kodi running embycon (which I am really liking now I am getting my head around it! :-) )  when the "Auto-timeout" feature gets added, is it likely to be across the board or certain devices before others?

We try to do things across the board as best we can.
