Hello,

Sorry for starting a new topic on this old subject, but I can confirm that passthrough of both DTS and 640kb AC3 works with the Fire TV Stick 4k.

I hear sound, my AVR confirms the audio format and it sounds a lot better.

Passthrough of DTS core from a DTS HD track also works if connected directly to an AVR, but not with HDMI ARC.

Searching on google, it seems that Fire TV devices using Fire OS 6.x can do that, due to differences with Android 7.1 which Fire OS 6 is based on.

With the current Emby app I can only get that if I disable all transcoding options for the emby user in the server.

I see options to force DTS passthrough in the settings menu but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

But turning off transcoding is a problem to me since I also use emby from outside my home where bandwidth may be limited and transcoding is needed.

So I would like to ask to revisit this behavior of the Fire TV app when running on Fire OS 6.X, to allow DTS and higher bitrate AC3 passthrough.

Thanks in advance for your support!

HI, if transcoding is needed then the transcoding format won't be able to carry dts so that's why this happens. But on your local network this shouldn't happen anyway though, right?

We'll take a look at this in the app.

Thanks.

Hello, any update on this?

If you can at least add an option to the playback settings to force passthrough of higher bitrate AC3, DTS 5.1 and DTS HD, I think it would be good.

I can confirm that it works with the AFTV Stick 4K if I disable all transcoding options for the user in the server dashboard.

Hi this was added a while back for Android 7.0+.  What version of Android is your stick running?
