igeoorge 26 Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 (edited) Hi Can anyone recommend good programs to convert files? I need to convert to be compatible with tv, phone, tablet, chromecast ... all. Edited August 7, 2019 by igeoorge
Luke 42083 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Have you checked out emby server's built in media conversion feature?
igeoorge 26 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Hi Yes! I have always only used the Emby converter, but I noticed that it has some issues with chromecast. It converts but when playing for chromecast gives this message
igeoorge 26 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Because of this problem I look for other solutions. Do you know a good converter?

igeoorge 26 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Didn't I already explain that here? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/76127-chromecast-issue Hi The error was nothing related to Chromecast but to files that are in Emby not going to chromecast.
igeoorge 26 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 You mean like Handbrake, ffmpeg, etc.? I believe so. Which program do you use to convert your files to all stacks? What format do you recommend?
sfatula 207 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) Handbrake can be very slow. I simply use ffmpeg. For me, the use is only to deinterlace to 1080p from 1080i. But still, it's the same program that can be used for your purposes of transcoding. I would think mp4 should be universally playable on your devices? Edited August 8, 2019 by sfatula
igeoorge 26 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Hi @@sfatula HandBrake really is very slow. There must be a reason. Can you access any websites that can convert the files? Openload.co is great, but it has a low transfer rate, almost 1 day waiting to upload a movie. Do you know any that are good?
igeoorge 26 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Hi @@Luke Do you know some? Thanks for the help of all of you <3
sfatula 207 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 ffmpeg is fast, that's what emby uses to real time transcode for playback. It's more a matter of the settings you use to make it compatible, ffmpeg will certainly do that.
igeoorge 26 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 @@sfatula Can I install ffmpeg on my windows and use it to convert? I don't understand about it yet.
sfatula 207 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) I am sure you can, and the command line version already comes with Emby, it should already be installed wherever it is on Windows. It's not the simplest program to use by any means. But it is scriptable. There are possibly GUI versions for Windows, not sure, I don't use Windows. Edited August 8, 2019 by sfatula
