legallink 187 Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) My LIve TV recordings "Series" folder was turned into a series (Blade for some reason) in the last server update. I haven't figured out how to change it back to simply the "Series" folder without any metadata ascribed to the folder. Thoughts? Note that the "Movies" recordings folder did not change. chjohans 34 Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 This has happened to me A LOT in the past, Emby would wrongfully identify multiple folders in my Recorded TV library folder as a movie and/or TV show. I did post here and ask for solitions/options and asked for an option to NOT identify and download Metadata for recorded TV libraries. Luke chose not to do anything about this so my own solution was just to delete my Recorded TV libraries from my emby servers as this feature now is useless to me. I watch recorded TV through Kofi anyhow so I can get to it fine even without emby knowing about it. Too bad this issue were ignored though because it's a real and very annoying issue and I couldn't possibly be the only one experiencing it. The solution would be really simple to implement too., just a simple option to leave recorded TV libraries alone and stop trying to identify the content. I was offered quasi solutions like defining my recorded TV libraries as home movies, problem is I already have home movies and I didn't want to infest those with TV recordings. legallink 187 Posted August 7, 2019 Author Posted August 7, 2019 I think you are mixing issues here. The parent folder was identified as a series itself. The sub folders have always been recognized as a series and that has always worked perfectly fine. When you setup a folder to record live tv, it sets up a series and a movies folder when it records. It’s thar series folder that was identified as an actual tv series. The series that it records have always been recognized as tv shows, but the parent folder never was historically.
Luke 42085 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 what is the series name that has a number in it?
legallink 187 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) I’m not sure I understand. Do you mean one of the recorded series? The top folder turned into “Blade the Series”. As far as a series that has a number in the name that has been recorded, I’m not aware of one (unless you mean spelled out, like brooklyn nine-nine). I do have several recoding series folders where the live tv implementation added a year st the end of it in parentheses. Is that what you mean? If so, there are multiple that look like this “Series Name (YEAR)” Edited August 8, 2019 by legallink
Luke 42085 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 No not the year, I mean a series that has a numeric value in the name. Are there any?
legallink 187 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Nope, none. I looked at all the folders in the Recordings/Series folder, and aside from a year in parenthetical, no series has a number in it. I've attached a screen shot of the folders in Recordings/Series, and I'm not seeing any with a numerical value in the name. Note that all folders are created by the system when setting up a recording for a series and then a recording happens. I don't set up any folders in this folder.
Luke 42085 Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Well you have a tvshow.nfo file there. i would try deleting that and then running a scan.
legallink 187 Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Well aren't I thick. That solved it initially. Thanks @@Luke! We'll see if anything else pops up. Not sure how the tvshow.nfo got there.

Yes you are right, my issue was not with the root folder. Glad it worked out for you. I do see the 'identify' feature being useful when it works (I guess it works the best for those in the US), but for me it was useless and I still hope this will be an option in the future.
