Library Auto Thumbnails not working...

Finally made the jump from 3.5 to current build (4.2.0.40).... So far so good except the Library folders (TV & MOVIES) used to auto generate thumbnails of random covers from that library... I doesn't seem to do this anymore on this version for me. It's not a big deal, I just grew fond of these thumbnails. It just displays blank generic folders now. Any ideas?

Hi there, did you run a library scan?

Luke,

Thanks for response, Yes I did, I even did all three option to be sure. (It does properly scan media inside folders) just never auto generates the thumbail for main folder. Do you think this has anything to do with importing config from 3.5 to 4?

I'm not sure, but yes the 3.5 upgrade to 4.2 did not get as much testing because most users have already updated by now. Can you show a screenshot of what it shows? Thanks.

Sure thing... here it is.

Maybe try and trick Emby by adding a image to the library, do a scan, then remove the image and do a scan.

You can also make your own 'four slice' thumbs if desperate, but if you add them yourself they don't get updated automatically by Emby later.

Soooo...

This is a good one... I had broken network connections on re-install... I fixed the paths and boom, it auto generated the thumbnails after I re-scanned, and even somehow restored the user profile pics which were missing (which wasnt a big deal to me).

Thanks for all your help. Solved!

I know I'm a few years late but I've had this same problem all this time and just decided to try to address it today.

Each library's thumbnail shows a broken image link. If I upload a thumbnail manually it works fine, but the moment I delete it I get the broken image icon.  Only on libraries that I've had for years, any new library properly creates the thumbnail.

I also can't rename those libraries. But I can add to them ok

How do you "fix the paths"?

Hi, try using the image editor to delete any existing images that are assigned to the libraries. Once that is done, then you can add new images however you like. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  Using the image editor works, I can delete the broken image and replace it with an image of my choice; but the original issue I had is still there, which is, the auto-generated thumbnail that normally shows a few of the items in each library isn't working.  It always results in a broken image in-browser and a blank image on Roku.  This is the case for each of my libraries except the most recent one I created, which for some reason, works.

Thanks

Hi again

Thanks for the feedback

I solved the problem.

I must have at some point in the past, ran Emby Server as root, because a few of the folders in /var/lib/emby/cache were owned by "root" instead of "emby"., including for example, tmdb-tv

I changed the owner back to emby and the problem went away.

Thanks for the help!
