Question about FF/Rew

I get the same flashing thingy on Roku, I think. The interface seems glitchy. If I do fast forward or rewind it works, but it displays as if it jumps back and forth. Also, during playback, the duration and remaining time numbers jump a bit.

Works on other devices.

What Roku device? Please attach the emby server log from when this happened? thanks.

Roku Streaming Stick Plus. It's been going on for the past few days. Can't really pin down when it started.

Logs here.

This thread is about the images in the browsing interface.  Are you talking about the video during playback?

Not the video. The video is fine. It's the actual numbers in the interface, the scroll bar during ffw/rew, and such.

I cannot reproduce this on the low-end Roku express model or the Roku 2 XD I have.

@@Starlionblue Which Roku device/model is this? What operating system is your Emby server running? Is this *nix?

Note: I have had weird behavior on the app at times and had to restart/reboot the Roku express to stop it flaking out on me. I chalk that up to the Roku firmware causing issues though. Is this a Roku express experience the issue?

Emby Server for Qnap. 4.2.0.28 Beta.

I split your post out because you are talking about something different.

Can you please explain what "the numbers jump a bit" means?

Thanks.

Emby Server for Qnap. 4.2.0.28 Beta.

Well for starters why did you stay behind on an old beta?

Because the dashboard says " Emby Server is up to date".

Must sleep. Will update and check tomorrow.

Then  you must be having a network problem checking for updates.

As mentioned in the other thread, I've updated the server to 4.2.0.40 Beta and I've been doing all the stuff I normally do, but the glitch is not back. Will run it for a few more hours and see. I had a thought that running the YouTube app on Roku first might trigger it, but it seems not.

New log here.

Then  you must be having a network problem checking for updates.

It's possible. However everything else works fine...

Just as a point of information: Neither of my two Emby servers correctly detected and upgraded to the latest beta server version. Once I saw that there was an upgrade available I manually upgraded both and that went flawlessly.

It did not occur to me to get logs or anything, sorry about that. I will watch and get logs if it happens again.

I am quite sure that I had no network or communication problems that were local to my network or computers at the time the upgrade became available.

4.2.0.40 was a release version, not a beta.  If you were on the beta track, you wouldn't have gotten an update until yesterday, I think.

Yes. Sometimes I miss the obvious. I "Thought" I clicked on the beta link but it seems I did not. Now I am on 4.3.0.0 and I think that is actually the current beta.

I had the glitch again today. And caught it on video this time.

You can see both the FFW progress bar and the seconds counter "jumping" in this vid

What if you lower the quality setting to force a full transcode?

Ok. I tried that and there is no glitch.

But there is currently no glitch with the full quality "direct" version of the video either. This issue is infuriatingly intermittent.

I've posted the new server logs here. "Emby Server Log 4" is the one with the glitch from the video I posted. It occurred just before I posted it here, so around time 2200 in my time zone. "Emby Server Log 5" and "Emby Transcode Log" are from today when I tried playing both with transcoding and at full quality.

Yes is is. But this glitch is intermittent. Sometimes it shows up and sometimes not. I haven’t been able to narrow down what triggers it exactly.

The first item in your video (the purple bar) is not a part of our app, it is a part of the built in Roku player.  But both of those things would point me to thinking that the timestamps in the video are a bit wonky.  Does the video play back fine?

Plays back just fine.

Yep the progress bar is Roku. However the glitch is present both in that and the time digits. Also I sometimes get the glitch in the main Emby interface. Just selecting items and such.
